You are perfectly situated at Bussac to explore its many delights.Perigueux approximately a 15 minute drive to the south has a large market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a restored medieval quarter, museums, a superb selection of resturants/bars/cafes and great shopping.
Known as the Venice of the Perigord, the beautiful village of Brantome is also only a 15 minute drive to the east and is famous for its extraordinary 11th century abbey and picturesque setting on the river Dronne.On the way to Brantome you will pass through the pretty riverside village of Bourdeilles with its impressive chateau.
Slightly further afield, visit the region of the Perigord noir with its spectacular villages set into cliff faces, castles and bastide towns as well as its many prehistoric sites.
For the more energetic there are numerous other activities including canoeing, cycling, golf or horseriding or just relax on one of the many river beaches.
General information: Although there is a small shop in Bussac, the nearby village of Lisle ( 5 minute drive ) has everything you might need, grocers, bakers, bank, garage etc.
Less than 15 minutes away is the hyper market Auchan.It has a fantastic selection of food it is set in a shopping centre with many other stores.
There will be an information folder at the house telling you where the nearest post office, doctors, hospitals etc are.
As well as the welcome pack we try to keep well stocked with things like cooking oil, herbs, kitchen roll, toilet rolls, washing up liquid etc this is so that you have everything you need when you first arrive so you don't have to go straight out and do a major shop. Please replace anything that you use so that the next guests will have the same benefit.
The owners who live in the old farmhouse are able to offer at a separate charge a babysitting service.
We do ask all guests to respect the property and leave it in the condition that they found it.
Travel: The house is around a 7h 30 min drive from the channel port of Dieppe. Calais and the channel tunnel is approximately 1 hour further. The more westerly ports of Caen and St Malo are a 6h 30min drive.
For those wishing to fly/drive Ryanair are currently flying to Bergerac ( 1 hour drive ) and Limoges ( 1h 30min )
