Les Vachers is a stone built farmhouse dating back to the 16C. The large veranda offers a covered dining area for those lazy barbecues. Both the terrace and pool are floodlit to extend those relaxing evenings outside. The house is spacious with a well equipped kitchen with a range style cooker. The two double bedrooms each have their own en suite bathrooms. It is in a peaceful location set in 10 hectares of land with a private nine hole pitch and putt course. The south facing pool overlooks the private fishing lake which is well stocked with large carp up to 20lbs. Use of both the golf course and fishing lake are included in your stay at no extra charge. The 18 hole public golf course and leisure complex of Chateau les Vigiers is less than 10 minutes away. This holiday villa with it's private pool is ideal for those family get togethers or groups of friends chilling out.

Les Vachers is 20km south of Bergerac set amongst local vineyards. Bergerac offers low cost flights from Liverpool, Leeds Bradford, Exeter, Birmingham, Stansted, Gatwick, Luton, Southampton, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester. Bordeaux airport is 1 hour away. A car is essential in this rural area. Bergerac and Ste Foy La Grande are the 2 main market towns. The pretty bastide town of Eymet is also nearby.

Fishing: The large well stocked lake offers carp, rud, roach and perch. Carp of up to 20lbs have been caught in the lake. They have been well fed and offer easy fishing for children and fun for all the family. A large hunk of bread on the end of a line is normally all you need.

General Information: The summer season in the Dordogne offers hundreds of different events from town to town. Bergerac alone has 10 different events ranging from fireworks on the 14 July to long weekends of wine and food festivals. The local restaurants range from 4 couse set lunches with wine at 10 Euros to the 4 star restaurant at Chateau les Vigiers. There is lots of information available and the owner is on hand to give you his personal advice.

Wine: Les Vachers is at the heart of the wine growing region. Bordeaux and St Emilion to the west and Bergerac to the north. There are hundreds of wine producing chateaux in the area, many of whom offer free tasting. The owner is on hand to give his advice and to direct you to the award winning vineyards in the area.

Golf: A private 9 hole pitch and putt course is set in the surrounding grounds, with the lake being a water hazard! Most holes are a par three with a couple of par 4s so those kids (and big kids) can play while Mum relaxes by the private pool. A full range of golf clubs are available for your use during your stay at no extra charge. Ladies clubs, left handed ones and even kiddies clubs are available so no excuses. Chateau les Vigiers is a golf and leisure complex which is only 7km from Les Vachers. It offers a 18 hole golf course and driving range. There is also a 6 hole academy course. Visitors are welcome and golfers with minimum 36 handicap can play, with clubs, trolleys and electric carts for hire. The chateau also offers 2 restaurants and a beauty salon. There are many other courses in the vicinity, the owner can give directions.

If you want a quite location to relax and unwind this is the place and with beautiful countryside all around.
House was tidy with all you need and more than enough room for 8.
Huge outdoor table, great BBQ and grassed area big enough for fun with the kids. Pool big enough to jump, dive, swim or just relax in - plus a little header pool to paddle/sun bath in.
Fishing lake provided plenty of carp from both the top and bottom up to 9lbs with the promise of bigger.
Golf course was lovingly looked after and lots of fun for young and old alike. No formality - just grab a few clubs, balls and have a whack around.
Lots to do in the local area and beyond.
Alan & Sandra were great hosts, helped out whenever we needed anything (setting up the TV with the Wii, replacement gas.......) Came around with bottles of wine for our friends 40th birthday and shared a few beers chatting in the sun with Alan who has plenty of stories to tell!
Gave some useful tips on places to go and things to do.
Sigoules for the evening village food fair and St Foy saturday market are musts, canoe the river, wine chateaux......you get the idea. Although didn't move from the pool for the first 4 days!!!

Perfect older children escape

This is an excellent spot for older children our four boys (15, 14, the golf course is well maintained and challenging enough for good players while still being accessible to younger children. The lake was packed full of carp and the fishing rods (and lessons!) made for hours of fun. Nice quiet area with excellent shopping and restaurants a short drive away. Owner very helpful regarding local sites to see and markets to visit, even arranged a tour around a local vineyard. Would definitely recommend.

An ideal location to chill out and watch the world pass by. The property was clean & well equipped. We enjoyed using the golf course. Isolated but pretty location so a car is essential but loved the peace and quiet!

We have just returned from 2 wks at this fab house. 2 families 4 adults and 4 girls aged 15-11
House is well equiped and extremely comfortable. Beds were very comfy a big plus!!
The pool area is lovely pool, well maintained by Alan & Sandra.
Both men had a great time fishing both catching some huge fish, even the girls had a go! We all had a go at the golf and really enjoyed that too.
Golf at Golf de Vigiers was well recommeded also.

I would highly recommend this property it was spotless on arrival and we all had a great time.

Many thanks to Alan & Sandra for all their help and advise during our stay.

This farmhouse did not disappoint us ,we had a wonderful time there in the summer.We dont think that we could of found a better place to stay.The fishing was great ,we had wonderful views,the golf was great fun,it was ideal for the children to have a go without the worry of people watching.Sandra and Alan are two of the nices people you could meet, they made us very welcome and were on hand if we needed anything.
We will be going back there in the near future(we all agreed that it was perfect)
