Villa des Oliviers is situated in a quiet hamlet just outside of the village of Razac sur l'Isle and is a 10 minute walk from the local boulangerie. Perigueux, capital of the Dordogne, is 15 minutes away and offers a great deal to visit, including the Unesco World Heritage listed St. Front Cathedral, the Roman villa of Vesuna and many shops and restaurants. Bordeaux and St Emilion, both famous for their vineyards, are within one hour's drive, as are the picturesque village of Brantome - known as the Venice of Perigord because of its canals, and the interesting medieval towns of Bergerac and Sarlat. There are also numerous chateaux to visit nearby, including the imposing Castelnaud and the beautiful Hautefort, or visit the many caves, grottes and gouffres like Proumeyssac, or the world famous prehistoric Lascaux caves at Montignac and Les Eyzies. Canoeing is available on many local rivers, and the beautiful local countryside is ideal for horse riding and cycling.
