You can relax in peace 'at home' or visit tourist attractions: Aubeterre, Brantome, Perigueux, St. Emillion etc. You are surrounded by the beauty of the Dordogne; peaceful roads and wonderful views. The house, gardens and 8m x 4.5m salt water system fenced pool, are completely private and for your exclusive use. The luxury accommodation is single storey, suitable for those of limited mobility, with level terraces and gardens, peace and tranquility.

Hilltop Cottage is a peaceful home, from where you can take half or whole day trips to a host of attractions. Local large scale maps are provided and a guest book with up to date information on shopping, restaurants and visits. The managers can meet with you and share their extensive knowledge. The following can only be a summary,with all driving time in minutes down country roads with lovely views. Hilltop Cottage is some 7 min. from the busy large village of Verteillac. Here you can buy all your needs and find a bank, post office, 2 art galleries, bakers and a very large general store. It is 15 min. drive to the large market town of Riberac, with all facilities, 2 supermarkets and a large market on Fridays. Countless villages and restaurants are only a short drive. Aubeterre, and Brantome, (riverside activities) both tourist/ancient market villages/towns are 20/35min. Pre-history at Villar 40min. Angouleme 40 min. and Perigueux 55 min. St Emillion for wine is 75 mins.

  • All the bathrooms are beautifully tiled and fitted, with plentiful hot water The shower room and toilet is en-suite to the master bedroom. The family bathroom, with both handheld shower for hair washing and separate shower cubicle is near the twin bedrooms. There is a separate toilet. If you are in the pool area, any of these facilities can be easily accessed through the bedroom doors from the terraces, as well as through the front and rear doors.

  • Hilltop Cottage is an L shaped building and all 3 bedrooms have glazed doors onto the terracing which surrounds the outer side of this L shape. All of these doors have secure wooden shutters, as do the windows. All the bedrooms are light and airy with antique doors to fitted wardrobes. Any of the bedrooms can accommodate a cot, which we can provide. The double/master bedroom has a lovely ensuite shower, basin and toilet. There is a window overlooking the valley and a glazed door leading onto the terraces which surround the house. One twin bedroom has antique bateau-lit, extra wide single beds (with new mattresses), a glazed door leads onto the terraces and a window opens onto the rear inner garden. The other twin bedroom, also has a glazed door onto the terraces and one of the beds has a safety side bar for young children if needed.

Hillside Cottage is equipped as your home from home, with all kitchen and laundry facilities, a TV with English channels , DVD, video and a telephone. It has a good mix of antique and modern furniture, set in tiled peaceful rooms, full of light and comfort. It is peaceful, private and very relaxing. There is a private, (salt water system no sore eyes,) fenced pool, with terracing, plentiful sun beds and parasols. The pool has room for a paddling pool at the side, so once you close the security gate you can relax, swim and play with the little ones. There are several tables and chairs which you can position as you wish on the terracing around the house. There is a barbecue, which can be used anywhere around the house. You can follow the sun and shade all day. From the front and side terraces and garden you look over a secluded valley, discovered by few others. Whilst the rear garden and terrace is bordered by trees, walls and shrubs. Everyone who has stayed here has loved it.

Hilltop Cottage will prove to be an excellent choice as your all important holiday home. Please feel free to ring (00 33 6 84 73 72 64) and we will arrange to ring you back at our expense and discuss all your requirements. We believe in people having happy holidays and will not encourage you to rent Hilltop Cottage unless we feel it meets all your requirements. During your stay we are happy to call by and give you advice and holiday help, or leave you alone as you wish. We live about ten minutes drive away and you will be given several contact numbers for during your stay. There is a phone in the house and good mobile reception as well. If you can't be parted from your lap top and you need only a phone line for connection, this can be arranged too!! Hilltop Cottage is a private property entirely separate from Hilltop House.
