Surrounded by mature trees and with wonderful views, Chapeau is the ideal place to get away from it all and relax. The idyllic rural location is peaceful and private and yet in just five minutes one can stroll into the village past the neighbouring medieval chateau, to buy fresh bread, croissants and provisions, have a meal or a drink in the hotel/restaurant or play tennis by the tiny village school. The private salt water pool receives the sun all day long and the terraces are positioned to provide the choice between sun and natural shade. The spacious accommodation is comfortably furnished and well equipped .

The beautiful, unspoilt 'Pays d'Hautefort' is ideally placed for those wishing to explore the Dordogne region but has the advantage of being much less crowded than the area immediately around the main tourist cities, although these are easily accessible. There are numerous places to visit in the locality such as prehistoric caves, chateaux, gardens, theme-parks, markets, inexpensive restaurants, and museums.

Notes: The wooded grounds are a paradise for children to play in and we provide lots of games etc for all ages including badminton, table tennis, boules and 14ft trampoline with safety enclosure. Baby equipment is available on request. There is a piano in the salon. Bicycles available. The salt water pool measures 11 by 5 meters and has a Roman End, underwater lighting and hydro jet and optional volley ball net. linen for the house is provided except pool towels. These can be provided for those coming by plane. There is a covered eating area on one of the numerous terraces and a summer kitchen is also available. Fishing possible in our private lake, please contact us for further details. Please note that central heating and logs, if required, are charged extra (at cost price).

Great for a group holiday

Our group of friends and family have holidayed many times before, but our stay at Chapeau rates as one of the best for so may reasons.
Chapeau is beautifully situated - quiet, yet close enough to the village of Badefols d'Ans to walk to, through the walnut groves. We ate twice at the local restaurant, recommended by Jonathan, and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was plenty to do and see in the area, particularly the town of Sarlat, and the chateau at Hautefort.
Caroline and Jonathan could not have been more helpful, before and during our stay, and this definitely helped the smooth running of the holiday. They organised our taxi transfer to and from Limoges, stocked the kitchen with basic food and lovely wine for our first evening, and put us in touch with a local caterer, who delivered a delicious 3 course meal for our first evening.
Chapeau is full of character, and it was a joy to get up early, watch the sunrise, and look over at the lake, watching all the wildlife. The pool and gardens were excellent, and the children adored the trampoline!
We enjoyed many evenings eating outside, and the barbeques and pool house were much used.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Chapeau, as well as Caroline and Jonathan, to anyone considering a stay in this lovely part of France.

I heartily recommend this property to anyone considering a holiday with family or friends. One would be hard pressed to find a better equipped house, in a better location or with better facilities, both indoor and out. Property description spot on, owners extremely helpful and efficient, so holiday with confidence.

Chapeau was ideally suited for our family group (11 in total ages ranging from 20 months to mid-seventies) and was accurately described in all the information we received.THe location was both convenient and peaceful -a rare combination- and the comprehensive facilities and accommodation could scarcely have been bettered. Local shopping and restaurants were all good.
Fine weather meant the pool and the surrounding coutryside offered most of what we needed but the games room was also a star attraction.
Caroline and Jonathan could not have been more welcoming or more helpful .Highly recommended.

The internet description was very good, but more details would have saved some packing space e.g. an excellent selection of cildren's toys, games, DVD's and video, plus the adult library.

The house was very clean and well-maintained and the owners were so welcoming and made us feel very much at home.

The house was booked to celebrate a Ruby Wedding Anniversary and a " Big Birthday " and was ideal for both occasions. Our family group ranged in age from 2 - 70 and there was something for everyone at Chapeau.

For us the best part was the total privacy and quietness of the property linked with the excellent provision of so many on-site facilities that catered for all age groups, the best being the swimmng pool.

We were a group of 10 and were amazed at the provision of so much crockery, pots and pans etc. for both indoor and outdoor catering.

The outside caterer was used twice. The food was excellent. a fair price and delivered to the door - fantastic.

We were so enchanted with Chapeau that on most days we stayed there as the facilities were really marvellous. We used the restaurant in the main street in the village and found it good. The boulongerie was used daily and was excellent. The village tennis court was good. The Chapeau tv was much appreciated as it had English BBC so we were able to keep up with Wimbledon and the Welsh S4C to follow the Lions Tour of S Africa.

We would definitely recommend this to family and friends and have already passed on details to some people. We would also like to visit again with our family group.

there were 11 of us from 11years to 79 years, what a fabulous place it is absoluely perfect! everything that is described in the advert is accurate and more besides! We caught fish in the lake had tournaments of badminton, table tennis water vollyball,french boull trampolined ect everything provided! The markets were brilliant Sarlat and the canoeing was fab . the little village had two restaurants both excellant value and not too far to go home!!we were there on Bastille day and saw the fireworks too! We all want ot go back!! Our thanks to Caroline and Jonathan for all their hard work.
