Beautiful, peaceful location, without being isolated. Outstanding views over the river Dordogne. Many sporting activities. Many places of interest to visit. Local shops 10 minutes walk. Larger towns 20 minutes drive. The house is situated about half way up the famous Route du Cingle which is featured in many books, being renown for its views and natural beauty. Ideal for ramblers, cyclists, water sports, sightseeing, golfers, good food, good wine. Children and pets welcome. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday, or a central base for exploring the area, or a base fore house hunting, then this is the place to be. Many of our guests have bought holiday homes in the area, some have moved here permanently, and others return year after year to enjoy their holidays. The outlook is breathtaking, and has one of the best panoramic views in the Dordogne, at a very reasonable cost.

Tremolat is a peaceful village on the river Dordogne, with about 800 inhabitants. Half an hours drive east of Bergerac, with other towns 20 to 30 minutes away.

One suitable for 2 people, (approx 40mtrs sq ) the other suitable for up to 4 people.(approx 50mtrs sq ) Or utilise both for up to 6 people.( 90 mtrs sq ) Both are priced individually, and offer total privacy from each other. We are now able to offer basic sky television in both properties. Both of the gites have washing machines.

'Destin': It's a detached house overlooking the river Dordogne, with fabulous views of the river, the village of Tremolat and the surrounding countryside. It is a lovely spot to spend a peaceful and relaxing holiday, or to use as a central base for exploring the surrounding area. Peaceful, but not isolated. All new fixtures and fittings. Bedding, towels, pots, pans, etc. provided. All you need to do is bring yourselves, and your personal possessions.A great place to spend your holidays. In the newly created garden there is a plunge pool which are guests are welcome to use.

Amenities: There are lots of activities in the area. 10,minutes walk away there is a camp site which is open to the public, with 2 swimming pools, football, table tennis, boating, water-skiing, cafe etc. The village of Tremolat is within walking distance with all the things that you may need. Shops, Post Office, 2 Bars, 3 Restaurants, Garage, Church etc, etc. There is crazy golf, bike hire, horse riding etc. There are golf courses within half an hours drive. Several towns and villages all within easy reach. There are many places of interest to visit, all within easy reach.

Travel: The choice is yours. The ferrys-from various ports. The shuttle. Eurostar. Fly to Bergerac ( 30 mins drive away ) Fly to Bordeaux ( 2 hrs away )

Golf: There are several golf courses within an hours drive from the property.

Other Activities: Sunbathing, Sightseeing, Fine cuisine, Excellent wines Boating, canoeing .

The best option in Perigord

We´ve been there 2 weeks in Jun 09 with a bay ( 10 months ), and " Destin " is the most beatiful place in that area. The views are impressive and you can breath there peaceful and tranquillity. But you are also nest to the nice village and by car you can visit the area easily ( we have drived about 1000 kms in 2 weeks ! ). The villages, towns, castle and landscape are marvellous.
Richard and Margaret are very nice and they help you always. They are so kindly and also the little dog and the cat. We would like to repeat the experience, so we ´ll return !

Peaceful,tranquil location with superb views.

If the view from your property is as important as the facilities themselves then this must be up there with the best. Overlooking the Dordogne above the National Watersports Centre at Tremolat the river offers atractive and interesting views at most times.
Situated within a five minutes walk from the small village centre the accommodation offers peace and tranquility but is within easy reach of the village facilities.
Margaret and Richard our hosts are most helpful at all times and their hospitality is faultless, nothing is too much trouble for them and you need have no worries that everything you need will be provided.
We have rented both apartments on two seperate occasions and have been highly satisfied on both.
I recommend this choice amongs the many available within the area.

Well what can we say, been twice and going back for a third year! That speaks for itself!

The gite is simply styled with everything you need. We’ve holidayed in France for the past 10 years and have not been disappointed with the facilities at Chez Destin. The view from garden is spectacular, especially first thing in the morning as the mist lifts over the river and the bridge comes into view. Get up early and look out for the deer in the field below the house. August’s Marche Nocturne is a great family event with local food/wine to buy, or bring your own picnic, and music for those budding dancers.

The village is a short walk away and has the basics facilities, with bigger supermarkets/shops only a short drive. English is widely spoken so language is not a barrier. The “posh” restaurant in the village is must for the foodies! Its sister bistro is less pricey, and the food is simply calorific – forget the diet!

For those looking for an active holiday then look no further with beautiful walks, canoeing, road and mountain biking on your doorstep. For the mountain bikers its simply great with access to the GR6 a short pedal away . It passes through the village and tracks the hills overlooking the river along some fast flowing singletrack, with enough variety to keep me satisfied for 3 weeks. For the runners there’s lots of road and off-road running routes, watch out for the hills! The canoeing is excellent, pick up the minibus in the campsite down the hill and you’re taken downstream for shorter or longer (overnight!) trips returning to the campsite. You can also hire boats, pedalos and canoes on the river front. Water skiing is available too. If you’re looking to get away from it all and relax, then Chez Destin will not disappoint. Its quiet location is perfect for a book, a puzzle, a beer or glass of wine.

For the historians out there the castles at Castelnaud and Beynac are a must. I liked the sword fighting and Trebuchet show (Josh age 10). The caves at Proumeyssac and Les Eyzies are also a worthwhile visit

Margaret and Richard (and Jinty the dog) are the perfect friendly hosts; leaving you alone when you want to be left alone and there when you need them. They know the area really well. If you want to know the best market, the cheapest pizza, which village has got an event on, who’s got the best shopping deals, then just ask.

In our view the perfect holiday in France.
