La Gentilhommiere is a spacious stone built self-catering family size barn conversion set in an excellent rural location. As well as being surrounded by fields and forestry it has idyllic peaceful gardens with views across the valley. It's an ideal place to stay for a family gathering/anniversary/wedding party or just friends enjoying a holiday together. You enter the property via a large 25sqmetre entrance hall. To one side is a large lounge/dining room. The lounge area comfortably seats 11 people and the dining area seats up to 20 people. We have an enormous 39sqmetre kitchen too - big enough for everyone to help with the cooking. The other side of the entrance hall is where the 8 bedrooms are located. Four bedrooms have french doors leading directly into the gardens and the other four bedrooms have windows overlooking the gardens. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.

In the South West region of France, just 15 kilometres from the exciting wine producing area of Bergerac and 35 kilometres from Pérgueux (the capital of the Dordogne) is the village of Campsegret. Bergerac town (15 kilometres drive) has an outstanding cathedral and a twice weekly market. There are boutiques to browse in and an abundance of very good restaurants serving typical perigordian cuisine. There are many activities in area to keep you busy to name a few; Museums, The grand chateaux of Monbazillac, wine tasting in Bergerac (leave the car at home) fun on the river in a canoe, boat trips down the Dordogne river, the caves at Lascaux are not too far away - the list is endless. From our house you can walk for miles without ever crossing a road or if you prefer, why not hire bikes for the whole family, pack a picnic and ride through the nearby forest. The bikes are delivered and collected from the house.

Notes: Don't fancy cooking? Hire your own chef! Let Margot cook you a sumptuous meal at La Gentilhommiere. She will come to the house, prepare and serve your meal and then clear up afterwards! Sample menus can be forwarded for your perusal. Children also catered for. Please note: you will need to reserve Margot beforehand. There is a hard tennis court in the village of Campsegret which residents of La Gentilhommiere are allowed to use without limit. We have a full-size table tennis table for guest use and various board games. There is a television with English Sky in the lounge.

Accommodation: We have a large very secluded swimming pool (12x6 metres with a deep end of 2.8 metres) with a covered terrace area for those who want to have their lunch in the shade. There are beautiful views from this area across fields up to the forest. The swimming pool is on one side of the property and a shaded garden is on the other. The garden is an excellent place to find solace, maybe sitting under a tree watching the butterflies and other wildlife we encourage to live here. If you are up early you may be lucky enough to see one of our resident red squirrels searching for their breakfast. Our pond has many large carp/ducks who are partial to the odd piece of bread or croissant. Please note we do not allow fishing in our pond.

Our house is situated in the village of Campsegret and we think we are very fortunate to have 4 restaurants, wine shop and catholic church all within walking distance of the house (2 kilometres) Some rental properties are an hour's drive from the nearest restaurant.

Other Activities: wine tasting / bowling / canoeing / aquapark / local boating lake / chateaux / caves / go karting

An exceptional holiday experience

Fantastic place, very rural 2 1/2 km walk into village but with views and surroundings it was stunning. Ideal for the families want to get away from it all. Accommdation was very spacious and comfortable. Bedrooms were all well laid out. Only disappointment was there was no towels provided ( description states towels are supplied ) so we had to buy some. Owners lives next door and on hand. They were always more than helpful. The pool is fantastic as is the whole setting of the place. Fantastic holiday was had by all 15 of us!!

I have recently read the latest review from a previous guest and I am saddened by its contents.
My husband and I stayed at the same place but it does not sound like the same place I stayed at.
Tracy and her husband were very kind and hospitable and made us very welcome on our stay at her house. The house was clean and comfortable, and my family and I had a super time. It was super wandering in her
well kept garden each morning and see her lovely ducks and chickens. the eggs were great thanks Tracy!
The rooms were very comfortable and the living quarters very spacious. The holiday was one of the best we have ever had and hope to visit again next year.

what a beautiful place to stay. very clean and in a peacful enviroment, the villa is very big and spacious and there was amply space for all 15 of us.We had a fantastic holiday although it does state that there was towels provided and we arrived with no towels there and had to go out and purchase some for our holiday.
Other than that i would highly recommend this villa as a family holiday to anyone.
