Villefranche de lonchat is a former English bastide founded in the 13th c. The village is full of character with a few beautiful houses. It is build on the top of a hill and enjoys one of the most interesting view of the region, overlooking over 40 miles of rolling countryside. Down the hill near the village is a lake with a beach and a choice of open air activities (paddling, swimming, horse riding, tennis, etc). The village is ideally located for a historical/ cultural stay in this part of France, with St Emilion, Bergerac, Ste Foy la Grande, Castillon la Bataille, Montaigne nearby. It is also an excellent base for those who would plan a wine tasting trip to France with some of the most prestigious French Chateaux less than 30 mn away. With 2 airports (Bergerac and Bordeaux) less than an hour away, A TGV station in Libourne, and a motorway junction 6 miles away, it is an easy destination to reach.
