Cycling and golf:
The region seems to be made for road cycling (the Tour de France passes almost every year a nearby road) and mountain biking. Many of our guests take their own bike with them and try the flat roads of the river Aude valley or the slopes of the Black Mountains.
One of the nicest and prettiest golf courses of this region is at Carcassonne. Every Tuesday and Friday morning the British golf club members play, often followed by a nice and reasonable priced lunch at the golf club's restaurant. Our guests are invited to participate.
The region has several other pretty golf courses, like in Mazamet. You could even spend a day in Northern Spain (only 2 hours drive) to play at one of the many marvellous Spanish courses.
Places to visit:
The medieval fortified cité of Carcassonne is one of France's most popular tourist attractions with many restaurants and shops in narrow streets.
Remaining of Cathar hilltop castles, abbeys and pretty villages like Limoux (well-known for its sparkling wines), Mirepoix (attractive Monday morning market at the town square, surrounded by medieval houses with galleries underneath).
Andorra ('tax free' shopping) combined with some walking/picnicking in the Pyrenees is worthwhile to visit and not too far.
At the Canal du Midi harbour, not too far from our property, one can rent a boat for a day or for some hours and enjoy a special experience.
