2 Glorious weeks in the South of France
Review Submitted: September 4, 2009
Date of Stay: August 2009
The stay at La Maison Des Vignes was for our family summer holiday, it seemed the perfect size for the 12 of us, we booked the three gites, the one I stayed in was "Coquelicot" which I am now about to do a review on.
The location of La Maison Des Vignes is set in a lovely quaint little village (Tourouzelle)
The night we arrived we were invited to join the village street party which is held twice a year, I believe.
Food, the local wine and live music is supplied (at a small cost), it was a very nice start to our holiday and met some really lovely people.
The gites are very comfortable, and are supplied extremely
well with all the essentials.
Kitchen.....Cooker, Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle etc. Living room, has a TV which has a few English channels and a DVD player.
Bedrooms have plenty of storage space and have a bathroom to each bedroom (bath and shower to main bedroom), with an extra separate toilet downstairs.
Iron, ironing board, CD player, hairdryer, clothes airer/ pegs and even picnic sets are also supplied.
All felt very home from home.
The swimming pool area was great, the pool was kept very clean by the owners, we enjoyed our relaxing days around the pool immensley! There are shaded areas, or places to sit in the sun. Plenty of sunbeds, along with lots of other tables and chairs. There are gates at both ends of the the pool, safety for children.
You couldn't fault the facilities at La Maison Des Vignes, to name but a few, golf clubs, bikes, books, umbrellas to take to the beach, even buckets and spades.
The seating areas outside each gite are very nice, each has it own gas barbecue.
We done plenty of sightseeing, lots to see.
The owners of La Maison Des Vignes, Jonathan and Suzanna, gave us advice where to go and gave us some excellent recommendations for places to eat.
We went to some lovely restaurants in Homps and Minerve. Carcassonne was an experience with the jousting show. We went to Narbonne and Leucate beaches, both of which are mentioned on the La Maison Des Vignes website and book in the gites on arrival.
We would of gave La Maison Des Vignes 5 stars, if the gites had had air conditioning, sometimes the heat was unbearable. It was very hot!!
Also the stairs leading to gites Coquelicot and Lavande could be a little tricky for the elderly.
Wonderful 2 weeks holiday was had by all.
Thank you Jonathan and Suzanna.
