Our time at Chateau Ventenac can be best described as pure escapism from our busy city lives. The Chateau was very clean and well equipped and the fact that it had wifi was a great bonus. The people caring for the property and grounds were very attentive and friendly but also discreet.
The Chateau was beautiful and far beyond what we had imagined. The view towards the Pyrenees was unsurpassed.
Places that we would recommend not missing are - L'o de la Bouche in Le Somail. This restaurant served great food in a very pretty setting alongside the Canal du Midi. Also, we would definitely advise hiring the bikes from MeloVelo in Paraza and following one of their cycle routes. It was a great way to get to know the area and see things we would have otherwise missed in a car. The ride to Lac Jouarres was great as it took us through the vineyards away from all the roads and then back along the canal through all the little quintessenital french villages. Carcassone, Beziers and Narbonne are all worth seeing.
We would certainly recommend this Chateau to friends and family and would love to return again.
