At the edge of a lovely, tranquil, typically French village in the south Minervois of the Languedoc, right alongside the spectacular Canal du Midi only 15 mns away from the famous walled Medieval City of Carcassonne. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We offer 2 fully equiped gîtes each sleeping 4 + Cot, which can prove to be an ideal base to explore the many attractions in and around the area. The HEATED SWIMMING POOL 10m by 5m (32 x 16ft) with Roman Steps. Both gîtes share the relaxing pool which is set in approx. 2 acres garden. Sun lounger’s are provided around the pool on the decking and tiled surround, offering spacious sunbathing area with extensive views of the hills and vineyards. Private off road parking. Selection of bicycles can be borrowed free of charge to explore the local area. Ideal location for visiting the many attractions or just soaking up the sun. The Mediteranean Sea and beaches are 40 mns drive. Plenty of local restaurants, lakes, Cathar history & walks

Canal View Cottage has the advantage of fabulous views overlooking the Canal du Midi and across the vineyards to the “Montagne Noire” in the distance. You can sit on the patio area watching the boats navigate their way up and down the lock on the canal and watch the French people go about their everyday life. Upstairs, the gîte offers a double and a twin bedroom. All towels and bedding provided. Shower, washbasin + hairdryer. Downstairs there is everything you need for a relaxing holiday away from home. Open plan area downstairs includes a sitting room area with sofa & armchair,TV, Radio/CD player. Dining table / chairs with a kitchenette offering all facilities. A full-sized 4 ring cooker with oven / grill and a large fridge/freezer. All crockery, cutlery + tea towels are provided as well as a microwave/ dishwasher/toaster/Coffee filter/washing machine/iron/coolbox etc. On the patio there is a wooden table and 4 chairs. Sun loungers are outside the gite and several up by the pool

The village of Marseillette is midway between Carcassonne and Olanzac in the southern Minervois region of the Languedoc. It sits between the Canal du Midi and the river Aude. A typical French village following alongside the Canal du Midi which is extensively used by hired boats & privately owned yachts and barges. The gites are next to the Canal du Midi where you can watch the boats navigate their way through the lock as they journey to and from the various ports and Mediteranean. Trebes close by, (less than 10 mins drive) offers all the necessary facilities such as; Grocers, petrol, supermarkets, chemist, newsagent, banks etc. All major stores and supermarkets are found in Trebes & Carcassonne. There is a mini supermarket in Capendu only 2 kms away open 6 days a week and sells most items. Marseillette is a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside and discovering new local wines. Cathar history, Beziers, Minerve, Caves / Grottos, Narbonne & the Mediteranean Sea

Notes:

Pets are considered and there is no extra charge. We ask all guests who wish to bring dogs to keep them off the furniture and not to leave the animals alone in the gites. Please clear up after your dogs. We do have 2 hens in a fenced off area so please take care !! Remember that in France, the restaurants will normally allow dogs inside or outside as long as they are well behaved and discreet. Large garden to the rear of the property where the pool is. For children, we also have a frame with 2 swings and a climbing rope.

Carcassonne has a beautiful 18 hole Par 71 - 5,758 metre golf course playable all year round with views of the Pyrenees and which is only a 20 minute drive away. The clever use of the ground configuration has allowed to give each hole particular personality and technical characteristics, thus offering players a pleasant, varied and competitive course. There are several lovely Golf Courses throughout the region examples being Toulouse, Mazamet, Montpellier all around an hours drive away. Why not mix a round of golf and some historical sight seeing into one holiday?

Why not mix a round of golf and some historical sight seeing into one holiday? We are happy to book a round of golf for you if your not a confident French speaker. Half sets of clubs can be hired for approx 10 euros. Trolleys and electric Buggies can also be hired. A round of golf costs around 50 euros each or 80 euros per couple. The Golf Club has a great informal restaurant situated on a terrrace overlooking the 1st Tee. 3 course Lunch price is around 16 euros per person
