What a gem!

We have recently returned from a family holiday at L’Obit. We stayed for a week – 8 adults, two children and a baby! We had a really fab time. And not only due to the weather!
Getting there was easy. We flew to Carcassonne airport from London. The Ryanair 10 euro lunch had hardly settled in our stomach and we had arrived. And the journey from Carcassonne to L’Obit takes no time at all and if you follow Debbie and Mike’s (the owners) directions you’ll pass through some beautiful scenery. It was a great start and a sign of what was to come!
Driving through village after village on the way from the airport you get a real sense of rural France. And arriving at L’Obit your not disappointed by what you find.
What a gem! Tucked away behind another house (you don’t ever notice or hear the neighbours) is L’Obit. Best described as quintessentially French– L’Obit is a great gite. Arriving at the back of the house on the upper level, you walk down the path to the lower level. And bingo – the pool! The first thing you want to do is jump in! But you take a pause to sample the views, and then notice the fantastic outdoor seating area. You begin planning your alfresco eating almost immediately!
The house itself is stylish, yet traditional. 4 good-sized bedrooms. We had the baby, and there was ample room for the cot (which belongs to the house). Our bedroom had an en-suite which was also a bonus. All the rooms are well kept and they all face out across the pool so have those great wake up in the morning views!
Downstairs is a large kitchen with two fridges!! Handy for those - like us – who love eating and drinking! Through the kitchen is a large open plan room with a lounge area leading through to an indoor dining area and a chill out area at the back of the house with my particular favourite touch – a stereo that plays music both inside and out by the pool – class!
Décor is very good, and the quality of the furniture is high. The house comes well stocked with DVDs, CDs, games and alike to keep all ages entertained so you’ll never get bored
Outside, there is a summer kitchen which currently houses a table football and a dartboard. On the veranda, it’s a large table next to a great bbq. We loved spending hours here.
This is a really first class find in a brilliant location. It’s as far away from the buzz of a city as you could ask for which is its real charm. Sit back, relax, go for a swim, admire the view and read a nice book. What more could you
