The swimming pool is fully enclosed (with all-round barrier) and equipped with pool house, shower and toilet for added convenience. The children's play area comprises brand new tp™ play equipment (swings, slide, climbing ropes, etc.); a 14-foot fully-enclosed trampoline; and a sandpit. There is also an all-weather table-tennis table. Choose from a variety of eating areas, either sheltered underneath Acacia trees or in full sunshine. Eating areas afford gorgeous views of St. Felix; the rolling countryside and sunflower fields. Kitchen: Well-equipped with electric cooker and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, and washing machine. The kitchen has easy access to the rear of the property (eating areas and swimming pool). Les Armengauds is a 100-200 year-old french farmhouse, gite and barn set in 2 acres, and surrounded by the sunflower fields of South-West France. Conveniently located, it is only 40 minutes from Carcassonne airport; 50 minutes from Toulouse airport; and just under an hour from the Mediterranean beaches and the nearest ski station in the Pyrenees. The nearest town is REVEL (8km) which is well served with restaurants, shops, and it’s picture-postcard, mouth-watering French market. LAC SAINT FERRÉOL: A beautiful lake fed from the Black Mountains, is only 6km from the property. The lake offers swimming, Windsurfing & Sailing, cycling, Pedal Boats & Crazy Golf, and Dining. CASTELNAUDARY (12km): World capital of the 'Cassoulet' and set on the banks of the Canal du Midi, this large town can offer shopping, dining and a number of other pursuits. August 2009 holiday at Les Armengauds

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks at the gite and would thoroughly recommend this property. The facilities at the property are great especially for those with children. The pool is lovely - large, heated, clean. The other facilities were exactly as described. The gite itself is larger than it looks on the photographs and is clean and well maintained. The owners of the property were very pleasant and helpful.

The area is lovely with plenty to see and do for all ages. It is really worth exploring the area as you have the coast, the Pyrenees and lots of history and lovely countryside all within reach. Carcasonne is a must see and the lake that is only 5km away is great for walking, swimming and other activities. Our children also enjoyed the dinosaur museum at Esperaza. If we were to go again we would definitely drive down and take bikes as there were lots of lovely cycle paths by the canal du midi which runs all over the region. The area is rural and unspoilt and not at all overrun with tourists. It is a good place for a very relaxing French holiday.

Early summer paradise

What a wonderful discovery. We've just booked to go again this year (which prompted me to write this). Beautiful peaceful countryside. Sunny yet lovely breeze making it a great sunbathing (without baking!). The gite is just the right size for a family (there are 4 in ours) - or a couple if you wanted something with a bit of room. No bath - which wasn't a problem for us but might be for some with really young kids. Kitchen well equipped. And of course - the outside: the pool which was comfortably heated when we were there in June; loads of room for the children to run about; play area; table tennis. Fab! Highly recommeded!

This year was our second year’s stay at Les Armengauds.

The Gite / Cottage is clean, uncluttered, comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing family holiday.

The property is great for families and couples alike. The pool is wonderful: fully enclosed and heated from May, so no matter what the weather, the whole family can have a whale of a time. We booked May last year, and it was just perfect. The cherries in the large orchard were ready to sample; the weather was beautiful, and the pool too good to get out of!

In 2007 we came in early July and were lucky enough to visit Carcassonne for the Bastille Day celebrations. We have never seen such an amazing firework display – quite breathtaking.

There is loads to see and do in the area: from the Carcassonne (La Cite) to the nearby swimming / windsurfing / sailing lake. Of course if you like biking or walking, then there is always the Pyrenees or Black Mountains right on your doorstep. The sea is about an hour away, which is also great to visit.

The first year we flew in to Carcassonne (Ryanair), which is a lovely, typical regional French airport, where you can watch your bags come off the plane and pick them up of the tiny carousel in the space of 10 minutes!

Last year we drove down, which took about 14 hours, although we broke the journey for a night. A really nice, relaxing drive down and seeing a bit more of France than you do any other way.

We highly recommend the Gite for families and couples alike. If you are active or passive(!) – this is the perfect place.
