St.Henry, 2 miles from the listed village of Laurac, is a fine spacious stone farmhouse, cool in the summer yet warm in winter with it's log-fire & central heating. Without losing its traditional character, it has been modernised & well equipped. The terrace & veranda lead to open garden with lawns & trees, and to the 12m x 6m pool, which has a 2.5m x 2.5m paddling annex ideal for babies & beginner-children. The pool is solar-heated & floodlit for evening use. Paths lead onto the meadows, through the peaceful valley and to the moors where you can roam freely in safety. Children can build dens, and feed the animals, which we keep for our (and your) pleasure, stroke the donkeys or play with the friendly cats & dogs. This is great walking & cycling country, but even driving is a renewed pleasure on quiet back-roads, touring villages where there are shops & restaurants or going further afield to the mountains or sea......even to Spain & Andorra. Notes to the rental rates

• Rental rates include all bedding, towels for indoor use and all services. We normally ask for a deposit of 25% of the total rent to reserve, with the remainder being paid two months before the start-date. Payments can be made by ordinary British bank cheques in pounds sterling, but if another currency is used a small surcharge may be necessary to cover bank charges.
  
• There is an addition of £100 to the above rates for those weeks which fall at Christmas, New Year & Easter. Please contact the owner for website and further details.

The Farm

Saint Henry is really a 'hobby'-farm; we keep animals for our (and your) pleasure. We have a few sheep, donkeys, goats and horses, cats and dogs to cuddle, rabbits, hens, ducks, geese and pigeons to feed (including sometimes pet lambs to bottle-feed). We, the owners, live in the converted bergerie – sheep-barn – attached to the farm house: each dwelling has its own veranda for dining outdoors, not overlooked by the other. You would share the pool and gardens with us and our three children, but in practice you would often have the pool to yourselves (our kids are good at judging when you might want company for your kids, if any, or when adults might like the pool all to themselve's !). And of course there is a lot of space in which to be on ones’ own ... Several ski-stations are within daly use by car, nearest 50 mile's. There are golf-courses at Toulouse & Carcassonne. Around Laurac Le Grand

Laurac is no longer ‘grand’ as it was in the Middle Ages, but it is interesting to explore its quiet traffic-free lanes and speculate on its turbulent history, or to walk from the house directly on to the moor-land paths and into its little valleys where you can find wildlife, wild flowers (particularly orchids and lavender) and fine views. A short car-drive will take you to the lovely banks of the Canal du Midi, or the markets of Castelnaudary and Mirepoix (the latter in a perfect medieval arcaded town-square), or just a little further to the battlements of Carcassonne – or if you want to taste local wines and food we can arrange visits to vineyards, farms and village fetes…… Situated between the mountains of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean coast, there is much to see -- abbeys, old churches, castles, pretty villages and fortified towns – or imposing cities like Toulouse, Perpignan, Narbonne -- museums like those of Toulouse-Lautrec and Salvador Dali, the bastides of the Tarn..
