Laspeyrisses is in the village of Soupex near Castelnaudary and Revel. We are 75 minutes from the Pyrenees with its many hikes; the Mediterranean is also 75 minutes, and the wine-growing areas of Corbières and Minervois are about one hour. Some of the surrounding picturesque villages (Montmaur, Avignonet….) hold night markets in the summer. From an historical and cultural aspect, Carcassonne with its castle is part of the history of the Cathars; Toulouse, the 4th largest city in France and known as the ‘Pink City’ because of its bricks, sits on the River Garonne and offers Roman and Gothic architecture, museums, art galleries, markets, and music festivals. Revel, on the edge of the Black Mountains, hosts one of the biggest Saturday markets in France; the St Ferréol lake with its water sports is close by; the Canal du Midi runs though the centre of Castelnaudary, the home of the famous Cassoulet is 9kms from here.; and there are Cathar castles and ruins, notably Montségur, to visit
