Beautiful Maison de Maitre with secure heated pool, fantastic for families

Maison Carreé is a stunning Maison de Maitre set on the edge of the charming village of Chalabre, in the heart of Cathare country. The House has been beautifully restored to provide spacious luxury , well suited for a couple of families. The private gardens have a secure heated swimming pool, a games lawn and a private BBQ area. Inside there is a fabulous sitting room and a large traditional Kitchen.On the first floor there are two large double bedrooms, one with private dressing room and double sink ensuite. also there is a twin bed room on first floor. 2nd floor has a futher two double bed rooms and a twin bedroom, a double sink bathroom, a separate shower room and a tv play area. In the basement there is a large games room with table tennis, extra loo, utility room and wine cellar (sadly without the wine).The house is bright and sunny with modern decoration and hardwearing wooden and tiled floors.

The house is situated on the edge of the charming village of Chalabre. Chalabre is surrounded by pretty hills and rolling countryside scattered by medieval castles and picturesque towns. Although small Chalabre is deceptively well bestowed with local amenities - you can walk (5 minutes) to pick uo your croissants in the morning. There are 2 groceries shops, pharmacies, butchers, a pizzeria,2bars / cafes and a hotel. fishing on the river that runs along side the quaint village bowling terrace. a small lake,2 lovely tennis courts and a medieval Chateau that hosts joists and family activities in the summer. There are two larger lakes, both 10 minutes away, for sailing swimming and sunbathing. Excellent off road tracks for mountainbiking and horse riding and you can see the Pyrenees from the house for all those after lunch walks! . Carcassonne has a wonderful golf course . The enchanting ancient towns of Mirepoix and Limoux are both 20 minutes away and have great markets and restaurants.

Maison Carree offers a very special type of holiday for all members of the family. Lazy sunny days by the pool and b-b-q's in the evening, or lazy days by the dreamy lake in puivert only 9km away , watching the gliders and small children fishing for crays while having a cold beer and chips from the cafe. The night market is a delight of local delicacies such as snails, cheese and wine enjoyed by all. The spectacular Abby in camon (5 mins) will guarantee a magnificant meal in the exquisite setting of its cloisters walled garden.There are soo many activities to do in this wonderful neck of the woods that you will leave having not managed to do everything you intended but blissfully content.

Chalabre is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the spectacular Pyrenees mountains. The medieval market towns of Mirepoix and Limoux are just 20 minutes away. Sailing and windsurfing are 10 minutes away on Lac Montbel and skiing is 40 minutes away at Mont D’Olme.

The house is available to rent all year with open fires to warm the heart after a hard days skiing in winter; in summer lazy days spent by the 10m by 5m heated swimming pool ensure many hours of R and R. Activities include: walking, cycling, table tennis, fishing, swimming, windsurfing, sailing, mountain biking, white water rafting, gliding, tennis, golf and skiing in winter. The airports of Toulouse (75 mins) and Carcassonne (45 mins) make for an easy transfer to the house.
