Limoux holiday house: Limoux

We stayed in Nov 08 for 4 weeks and sunbathed for the 1st half.The owners could not have been more friendly and helpful and the property was 100% in all respects,spotlessly clean,all mod cons,loads of room,superb outlook in the midstof vineyards with walks from the door in all directions eg foootprints in the local track of deer and boar.The walk over the hill into town(15mins) was a pleasure in itself.In the opposite direction you're in the open country immediately.Lots of room within the property for kids & pets to roam.A big pool which we didnt try in Nov. but borrowed the FREE bikes to ride everywhere instead! In our car so much to see incl market at Mirepoix*** lots of mini bastide type circular village/towns,Carcassonne Canal du Midi both in 20 mins,but BEST for us going south to the Pyrenees foothills(25mins thro the Defile St Pierre Lys**) where the sun seemed never to fail.Strongly recommend getting to Axat and on south thro the Gorges St Georges to most beautiful isolated villages like Ste Colombe sur Guette*** where we sunbathed on Nov 23rd!!.Within 10-15mins of Limoux itself other lovely quaint places like St Polycarpe St Hilaire Alet les Bains(with zip lines!)Esperaza(from where you should find the lonely road to Brenac*** and on towards Puivert.) In short.....never short of something to see and we didnt even include the Med !!
For space, surroundings,price, and choices we think you'd struggle to find a better option......unless you need seaside
