Mountain biking from the doorstep – for the ambitious you have access to the largest area of marked off-road bike trails in the Pyrénées - graded to suit all riders. Choice of routes - easy riding (green) for the leisure cyclist, varied (blue & red) through to serious stuff (black) for the experienced off-road rider.

Walking, swimming, riding, sailing, ski:
There is excellent walking from the front door. It's also an ideal location for day walks in the Eastern Pyrenees. The GR10 long distance footpath passes nearby and links to the 'Sentier Cathar'. If you prefer gentle walking in the foothills there is plenty of choice too. Walking guides, maps and suggested routes are provided. Nearby Lac Montbel a (20 min drive) provides swimming and sailing. Horseriding is popular locally too. In winter the ski station of Mont d'Olms is an hours drive, with more ski options from Ax-les-Thermes.
Cathar castles, bastide towns, French markets:
You can see the famous Chateau Montseguer from the house, and closer by, the jagged Chateau de Laguard is a local landmark. If you're into exploring historic Cathar castles and medieval towns then look no further. The nearest local market at Mirepoix with its medieval town square, is every Monday - great fresh local produce in season - with more markets on other days in nearby towns. The Canal du Midi is less than an hour away at Castlenaudry. A choice of good restaurants all within easy reach.
