Les Oliviers in just on the outskirts of carcassonne. The villa is very spacious, there is a large living/dining room with pently of room and seating for six people. The living/dining room is light and airy due to the two set of patio door which take you out to the undercover bbq and pool area. The kitchen has all you need, and has a utility room next to it with washing machine, dish washer and fridge/freezer. The two double bedrooms have there own patio doors leading out to the pool, both rooms have a comfortable double bed and a wardrobe. The twin room is a good size and has a large mirrored wardrobe, this room doesn't look onto the pool area, but has a window looking out into the garden. The bathroom is a good size, has a full size bath, the shower is over the bath. There is a separate wc, but this is the only one, has there isn't one in the main bathroom. The outside area is wonderful, there is a undercover area where there is a stone bbq and a table a chairs,( this is where we ate most of our meals). The pool is very private and is not overlooked. The pool is not heated, but didn't have a problem going for a morning swim!. The owner provides pently of info on the villa and the surrounding area, and you would also find games, books and dvds, which can be useful.
The villa is a 5 min drive to the supermarket, and 10 mins into carcassonne. There is a bus stop at the top of the rd that would take you into the city, if you don't fancy the drive. One day we walked in and it was only a 35 min walk.
The main reason why we picked this villa is for it location, my husband has an interest in middle ages and in the cathars, location was perfect for this. Most places of interest were just a short drive or within a 50 min drive. La cite in carcassonne is something you would find in a fairy tale, a great place to walk around and stop for some lunch. My husband and i took a drive to minerve which is a beautiful and worth it for the drive itself. Would also recommend mirepoix which is just a drive away and is wonderful little medieval town.
I would have no problems in recommending this property to friends or family and we hope one day to return and see the things that we never had chance to see.
