Our villa is set on a small, exclusive estate within the city of Carcassonne. The house is detached, secluded and surrounded by landscaped gardens with rockeries, fruit trees, palm and fir trees to provide summer shade. There are two terraces. The swimming pool is large and easy to access. There is a large, comfortable lounge with TV, DVD player, CD player, and a large open fireplace. The dining room has direct access to a covered terrace. The kitchen is fitted with a fridge, oven, hob, microwave and a dishwasher. The utility room has a washing machine and laundry facilities. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor - one with a king-size bed, one with two single beds and one with one single bed. The full bathroom with walk in shower, and the separate toilet are located on the ground floor. The fourth bedroom is on the first floor, and has a view of the castle turrets.

Notes: The villa would suit families or sharers interested in a lively, city holiday, but wanting a quiet home environment. The villa gardens are secluded and afford good sunbathing and swimming. The area, however, offers excellent sightseeing, with the Medieval City, a stunning World Heritage Site, within walking distance, and the Canal du Midi, with walks and boat trips. The town is traditional with pedestrian narrow streets and squares surrounded by restaurants and bars. There is a leisure lake, within a few minutes drive, with swimming and boating, walking and fishing.

The villa is located within the city of Carcassonne, in the region of Languedoc Roussillon, South West France. The snow-capped Pyrenees are visible in the distance but the long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are only a one hour drive away. The Spanish border, a mere 120 kilometres south, makes for an interesting excursion where sea and mountains meet. Tiny traditional villages, as popularised in the recent television programme 'French Leave', are scattered across the area, some dominated by the castles of this Cathar region. More sophisticated past-times are to be had in the elegant cities of Narbonne and Toulouse, famous for excellent shopping and grand sightseeing.

We had a fantastic two weeks at the villa in July / August. The house surpassed our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The layout of the house was just right for us (two families sharing) and there was more than enough space for us all. The house was clean and well maintained and the garden and the pool area were wonderful - private and not overlooked at all. The location of the house was perfect. We could walk to the Cite if we wanted and for our croissants in a morning every day. The supermarket is very close and the motorway to access the coast or other tourist attractions just minutes away. We could be on the beach in Gruissan in less than an hour. The owner Wendy communicated well with us at all times and I almost felt that we knew her by the time we arrived in France. Everything was so well explained and easy. The photos of the interior of the house do not do the property justice in some respects and we found it even better than we expected. I would not hestitate to recommend this holiday property to any one. You will have a fantastic holiday in a wonderful setting. Go for it.

Wonderful Villa

We spent two weeks in htis lovely villa in June. The house is well equipped and very comfortable with a lovely pool and garden. Pete was there on arrival to explain everything and give recommendations of places to see in the area.
The position is great in a quiet residential area but only 15 minutes to the old town and about 25 to the Bastide.
Recommend Comte Roger in the cite. Best to call in and book. A la carte or set menues for 35 or 45 euros. Lovely atmosphere and great French food.

We've just enjoyed a lovely week in Carcassonne. There is stacks of room in the house. The pool is lovely and the garden is not overlooked. Having central heating was fantastic - even though we didn't use it much as the weather behaved. The house was very clean, largely due to Pete & Haciba who are the FM's for the house. We only met Pete who was very helpful, informative and pleasant.



The Cite is beautiful and the area is fantastic.”
