The attractive old wine-making village of Fitou nestles in the foothills of the Corbieres Mountains in Languedoc-Roussillon, just 10 minutes from the Mediterranean sea.
The Languedoc is a relatively undiscovered region of France but offers 300 days of sunshine, 200kms of sandy beaches, two mountain ranges as well as numerous rivers, lakes and canals.
There are many large towns to explore, like Perpignan (20 mins), Carcassonne (1 hr) and Montpelier (1.5 hrs) and day trips to discover places such as The Carmargue, Nimes, Arles and Avignon are comfortably achievable.
Fitou village is just a short walk from your doorstep and offers fine restaurants, a bar, bakery and supermarket. Wine can be sampled or bought at any of the six caves all of which are on the main village street.
Walking from the villa to the village gives a view over the rooftops of the main street in Fitou, with the restored 10th Century Chateau dominating the hillside. The Chateau can be visited most of the year.
