Amazingly, it is the massive Camargue Regional Park that really draws the plaudits in the region. UNESCO has listed the park on the World Heritage List due to its unique ecological conditions. The park consists of over 350,000 acres of salt marshes and wetlands and is home to a vast range of animal and plant species. The Camargue horses are among the most famous residents of the park, but there are many, many animals to see whilst taking advantage of the endless miles of walking, horse riding and cycling paths that cross the park, making its treasures accessible to visitors.

There are a great range of beaches for those who simply wish to relax in the sun after a few days of sightseeing and nature watching. The beaches along the coastline of La Camargue can be hard to reach in places, keeping crowds at bay and retaining the wonderfully natural atmosphere. Nimes itself is one of the most impressive Roman centres in the whole of the region, if not the whole of Europe. Cheap flights to Nimes – Camargue, France

The area is wonderfully accessible from the UK. There are three airports within easy reach, although Montpellier Airport (MPL) is the closest. EasyJet and Ryanair both provide direct flights to Montpellier from the UK, and hire car facilities are easily arranged. Nimes Airport itself (FNI) is just 12km outside Nimes, and despite its size, Ryanair provide three regular services from the UK to Nimes Airport, arriving from the East Midlands (EMA), Liverpool (LPL) and Luton (LTN).
