Capestang is a thriving village where wine production has existed for thousands of years & continues to this day. Situated on the famous Canal du Midi, now designated a World Heritage Site and recently brought to British television by Rick Stein, it is ideally placed midway between the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean to the south and the Regional Park of the Haut-Languedoc to the north. The town square which holds a bustling twice weekly market is dominated by the magnificent 14th century church towering above & there are many other architecturally interesting and historical buildings to be discovered whilst meandering around the narrow, winding streets. Boasting 5 restaurants, 2 cafes, a number of bakeries, patisseries, food shops & a supermarket, all with a Mediterranean climate of an average of 300 days sunshine a year, Capestang has everything you need to be immersed in the unique lifestyle that is Languedoc-Rousillon.

Notes: The gite offers cool, bright and airy accommodation with very comfortable living conditions and would suit a family that likes to relax and cook at home, either indoors or outside on the barbeque. Equally, those families that like to explore the local cuisine would be well satisfied with the range of food available in the village, a mere two or three minutes drive away. The area is famed for its shellfish and within a 20 minute drive of Le petit Saint Nazaire, both Narbonne Plage and Valras Plage offer a huge selection of restaurants specialising in fresh produce from the sea.

A great place to stay in Languedoc

Alex & Svetlana Amersham, Buchinghamshire
Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
A lovely and very well located property in Languedoc: 20min drive from Narbonne and Beziers and 1hr from both Carcassonne and Montpelier. The property and all the facilities including the swiming pool are in a very good condition and very well maintained. The view from the garden really beautiful and it was so nice to sit there enjoying the weather, tasty French food and great wines.

James and Michelle made us very welcomed from the beginning. They provided excellent and unobtrusive service during our stay. We were lucky as their daughter is only slightly older than ours, so they played very nicely together.

Capestang is a lovely village situated on Le canal du Midi with a few shops and restaurants. The patisserie at the main square is particularly good. Try their apple cakes: scrumptious!

Places to visit: Minerve, an ancient Cathar village is a must. We also enjoyed trips to Narbonne and Montpelier. There is a very nice Fontcaude Abbey not far from Capestang.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Le Petit Saint Nazaire and extremly thankful to James, Michelle, Syd and Fil. We will recommend the place to our friend without any hesitation.

Our fantastic date with Le Tour!!

benemisara Nottingham UK
Review Submitted: August 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Our wonderful holiday coincided with the visit of this years Tour de France. As if everything else wasn't fantastic enough James and Michelle managed to arrange Le Tour to come straight past our house!!!
Perhaps not, but it made what was a wonderful holiday even more perfect.
You couldn't hope for nicer, more welcomming hosts to this region of France. This was our first visit to southern France and our first family holiday away in self catering accommodation with a rowdy two year old. We weren't disappointed. Well equipped and comfortable with everything you could need, including a superb outdoor pool, kept surprisingly warm by the sun.
Despite being just out of the town it didn't stop us having a daily trip to the local boulangerie for fresh croissants and bread. You have to try them all!
It also provided a good base for us to do some daily ventures far and wide into the mountains, the valleys and quite often the beach. Nowhere got too busy and we always found a nice welcome wherever we ventured.
James and Michelle, well supported by Finley and Sydney (or perhaps the other way round) and the rabbits made us feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. A relaxed atmospehere made us feel like we had been coming for years. I have no doubts we will visit again in the future.

Very enjoyable

This is one of the best gites in Capestang (and we have stayed in quite a few over the last 3 years!) Michele and James are very welcoming and their children are charming.

The little cottage is well-kitted out and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed being able to barbecue every evening on the patio area, and being able to stretch out on the loungers by the lovely pool.

Although Le Petit Saint Nazaire is just outside the village of Capestang you can easily reach the shops, twice-weekly market and restaurants by car or by cycling through the vines.

We are looking forward to our next visit!

Wow! What a fantastic stay. Accommodation modern, clean and smart with all the equipment needed for a 2 week stay even down to the BBQ! Hosts very welcoming and helpful. Excellent position for getting to local historic towns and cities and only 20 mins in the car to some great beaches. Equally a day by their lovely pool surrounded by lavendar was so very relaxing. We will definitely be returning. Thanks Le Petit Saint Nazaire.
