The house is situated in the charming quaint old village of Portiragnes near to the Canal de Midi,four kilometers from the blue flag award winning sandy beaches of the Mediterranean and five minutes walk from the centre of the village. Portiragnes has a range of shops and restaurants open all the year round. There is a secluded rear garden with a large terrace having sunshine most of the day and ideal for alfresco dining. To the front and sides of the property is a garden. The living area consists of a large lounge/dining room with a separate kitchen off the living area accessed by an archway. The kitchen is fully fitted. The lounge has two settees to seat six people with a television (french TV, video/DVD use) plus an audio system and a fireplace. The dining area has a table, six chairs and a sideboard. The master bedroom has a double bed with a bathroom en-suite whilst the other two bedrooms each has two single beds with a separate bathroom. The garage houses the washing machine.

The village, which is a mixture of old traditional houses and new properties is situated in the south of France near to the canal de midi and the many safe beaches that are along this beautiful coastline. We prefer the west beach at Portiragnes Plage,where there are plenty of restaurants. From the village centre there is an hourly bus service to Beziers and the beach.With a car there are plenty of places to visit, both historical and of natural beauty, including the northern Mediterranean coast of Spain.In the summer there is a water park near-by at Vias. Portiragnes has a small supermarket, butchers, bakers,hairdressers, newsagent and two bars/cafes. There are several hypermarkets nearby and an abundance of shops in Beziers.Langedoc is famous for its wine. The area is unspoilt with fabulous weather. Many restaurants are reasonably priced, while at the local markets many a bargain can be found. A sunny restful place to unwind from the stress of life, easy to get to by road or air.

Getting there: The area is well served with airlines(some low cost) to Montpellier, Carcassone, Perpignan, Nimes, Toulouse, Girona (Spain) such as Ryanair, British Airways, Flybe, Easyjet and EU Jet depending on where you live. Car hire is available from all these places though it is advisable to book your car hire together with your flights to avoid disappointment. The TGV goes to Beziers, change at Lille, and the Eurostar operates a weekly service, on a Saturday, to Avignon in high season. For anybody who prefers to drive the French roads are very good-you pay on the toll roads-and the scenery is stunning and varied with the new Millau bridge spectacular whether you cross it at night or in the daylight. We would be happy to send you our preferred route from Calais to Portiragnes and can also suggest overnight stopping places if required. RyanAir fly to Beziers Airport from Bristol ,Stanstead/Luton

We stayed in this house during three weeks in august 2009. The contacts, bij email, with the owners, information and booking was perfect. The description fit with the things we experienced. Don't take things for the beach because al is availabe.(towes, beachball, chairs for the beach)
The house is fully equiped and very clean. Also nice was the provided welcome package.
We stayed there with kids, 13, 15, and 18, The village Portiragne is smaal but nice. Near bij there are enough supermarkets like Carrefoue, Intermarche, Auchan en Geant. We suggest Montpellier as a place for shopping ans sight seeing. The evening market in Pezenas is also very nice.
Portiragne Plage was the plage we visited but Vendres is also a nice and more quiet beach.
Visit als Mon Reve d'enfant a very nice restaurant owned bij Roselinde and Peter. Ask for the "garnalen kroketten" one of my favourites. Roseinde uses dutch shrimps, perfect taste.
