Beautiful stone chateau with 12C origins nestling within 3acres of protected, private parkland. Situated at the portals of Spa town Lamalou-ls-Bains, with healing waters, between mountains & sea. Golf course on doorstep with wonderful views. Accommodation in 4 wings around central courtyard. Every room is newly refurbished for 2007 with emphasis on comfort, cleanliness & luxury. British satellite TV/DVD/surround sound & all facilities. Large 15m swimming pool & Jacuzzi spa, fitness suite (qualified instructors onsite) & treatment room (for holistic therapies.) There's plenty of safe parking in the outer courtyard. Easy access, on foot, to all amenities including; restaurants, bars, shops, market, parks, casino & 600 seat theatre with operas etc. A rare combination of rural France combined with all the facilities of town a few mins walk away. The river Orb with all it's activities is nearby, as are mountains, lakes, caves & gorges.

All new for 2008 a two person apartment with flexibility to sleep four if needed. The apartment is situated under the Chateau's coach arch in the old blacksmiths shop. It has a rustic feel with exposed stone walls and beams. The main living area has a studio lay out with a fully equiped compact kitchen, open plan dining area and living room (including double bed). From the open plan living area there are uninterupted views of the vineyards and mountains beyond through the large french doors. There is a separate bathroom with a double ended freestanding roll top bath and shower over, toilet and table top sink. There is also a separate bedroom for children located within a large wine cuve attached to the old Forge. The apartment is on the ground floor and has direct access to the inner and outer courtyards for alfresco dining. Luxurious cotton linen and towels are provided and use of outdoor pool, jacuzzi spa, massage/treatment room, fitness/weight training suite, 3 acres of parkland.

The Herault area of Languedoc, renowned for it's 300 days of sunshine a year, has a varied & diverse landscape. There are the famous & internationally acclaimed vineyards you would expect to find in this region, but equally, there are many unexpected treasures to discover. Being a few miles from the flatter coastal scenery of the med & the canal du midi, we have some of the most exhilarating scenery in France nearby. Rivers, lakes, caves & gorges ready to explore, with a breathtakingly beautiful backdrop of the mountains. Lamalou is a typically Victorian spa town with a distinct holiday feel. There are many medieval villages, some actually built into the rock face, such as Roquebrun. Also, some amazing architecture, as in the historical market town of Pezenas. The flora & fauna that surrounds us is typically Mediterranean but, remains greener in the height of summer, than the parched coastal areas.

The balance to be paid in euros on arrival at Coubillou. A deposit of £30/€40 per room per night for the suites( for 4 nights or more £100/€150). The balance to be paid in euros on arrival. Golf: The beautiful golf course at Lamalou-les-Bains is only a 2 min walk away from Coubillou. There is a tourist information office attached to the club house & a very popular restaurant overlooking the course. If you would like daily rates or have any queries, don't hesitate to contact us.

have a great family holiday in historic chateau

with our 2 boys of 6 and 3 we had a fabulous holiday in Chateau Coubilou this august 2009. The owners Sarah and Phil turned this medieval chateau into very romantic appartments while preserving the authentic atmosphere of the building. The central inner square is the perfect place to enjoy a local dish perpared by Sarah with some nice wine of the region.
The pool is absolutely georgous and needed during the hot summer in South of France. Sarah and Phil are always available for help or give suggestions for day trips.
The region of Lamalou is very interesting and convenient with many supermarkets and fresh food markets around.
I can definitely recommend a stay in Chateau Coubilou to families with kids as well as couples not only in summer time, but i expect also off season or winter will be very romatnic.
We will go back one day, that's for sure. Maybe very fast, because our oldest son is already missing Jesse, the lovely nine year old daughter from Sarah and Phil.
Although not used by us during this holiday, the new gym with all equipment is worth mentioning too.
Thanks again Sarah and Phil for your hospitality, we miss you and Jesse already.
