Capestang is an ancient village offering a snapshot into the past with buildings dating from the 13th century. Steeped in charm, the historic Canal du Midi (a world heritage site) runs through the village affording leisurely walks, shaded by the ancient plane trees that border the canal. Boat hire is available and cycle hire for the adventurous, or visit one of the many local boulangeries to purchase your morning croissants and order coffee at the Café de la Grille in the square, where you can sit and watch the world go by. Visit the huge indoor markets in Beziers & Narbonne where you will be amazed at the selection of fish, cheese and fresh local produce., also the numerous local markets in Capestang & the surrounding villages. About 1 hour from Rennes le Chateau (the Da Vinci Code). Or visit Spain only 75 minutes drive. Capestang is surrounded by vineyards, as far as the eye can see, with excellent wine tasting facilities & restaurants also 2 ATM's/Banks & internet access close by.
