The house is located in the village square and dates from the 17th century; it is traditional in design thick walls, and some high beamed ceilings. It is spacious with a 40' lounge and is adjacent to Pezenas a larger, protected medieval market town. It's between Montpellier and Beziers and is 20 kilometres from beautiful, sandy beaches. There are four airports between half to one and a half hour's drive. Tourbes has a doctor, grocery, butcher, baker, pharmacist, post office, hairdresser, cafe bar with outside seating, a gourmet restaurant and wine cave providing inexpensive but very drinkable wine. There are two major supermarkets within a five minute drive. The Herault has 275,000 acres of vineyards making this the largest wine growing area in the world and there are a number of wine trails taking you to some of the best vineyards where the wine can be tasted and purchased. Off the beaten track there are many walks with stunning scenery.

Pezenas/Tourbes is an area full of sunshine, vineyards, markets and old world charm. It is very centrally situated for easy access to four airports and there is a direct motorway to Spain which can be reached in about l 1/2 hours, the fascinating Dali museum is just over the border. Two large supermarkets are within five minute drive also major shopping centres There are many walks and cycle paths through the vineyards and countryside around and many beautiful beaches are within easy reach as are grottes, caves, a bamboo forest a cactus garden, honey and olive farms, Roquefort cheese caves, the Noilly Prat distillery (take a conducted tour) and many other activities too numerous to mention. The new Millau Viaduct and the medieval city of Carcassonne with its fantastic fortified castle; are within easy reach. Montpellier with its extraordinary architectural, and cultural heritage is to one side and Bezier and Agde are to the other. We live very nearby ready to help if needed.

  • There is one double and one twin-bededed room both quite large, each with their own bathroom attached, plus a double put-u-up in the lounge and a single, fold-up bed which could be used by a child or small adult. The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the house, one downstairs and the other upstairs, ensuring privacy. Each bedroom has plenty of wardrobe space, plus chests of drawers, chairs etc. There are lots of ceiling and stand up fans around for coping with the hot weather plus wall and other heaters in case it gets a bit chilly. There are pictures and flowers everywhere.
