Comfortable 18th century village house situated at the heart of the village of Quarante, in quiet no-through road. A gated, cobbled passageway, wide enough to garage a car, leads from the street to enclosed Mediterranean-style courtyard with small pool(5m x3m), and terrace area. The house was fully renovated in 1999 and is well maintained. Quarante is a lively, attractive village -shops, cafés, restaurants etc - set amidst gently rolling hills, vines, pine woods and copses. An ideal base for discovering this infinitely varied and beautiful region. Mediterranean - 19 miles. Bike rental available.

Spacious well laid out property

Just returned from a week at the above property and had a very enjoyable time. The house is in a small village, but central to the area. We have four teenagers, two of whom are sitting french exams in the next few weeks and we found the area very educational for them. The property has a great games room with pool table, table tennis and darts board which which were well used. The courtyard with its pool was also used even though April was still quite cool, in the summer this would be bliss.
We admired the way the property had been sympathetically renovated, it used to be the monastery attached to the church, it has a great atmosphere. The kitchen is well equiped and the rooms were spacious sleeping 6 with comfort. I have no hesitation in recommending this property.

A true taste of France

The property was clean and well equipped. We found it to be an excellent base for sightseeing around Capestang and the surrounding area.The games room and swimming pool were a huge hit with our children (10 and 12). The pool and courtyard were well kept and a real sun trap.

A wonderful house in the Languedoc

We are frequent visitors to the South of France and have stayed in many places once, but we all love this house so much that we are looking forward to staying here for our 5th time-it's a real home from home. This lovingly restored,immaculately kept former monastary is spacious and very well equipped.The courtyard with its variety of plants is lovely,as is the pool, so much so that we struggle to get our children to leave for days out, even to go to the fabulous beaches and rivers nearby. The games room,with darts,pool and full size table tennis table, is a real bonus, especially if you have older children.
Sarah and Nick the owners couldn't be more helpful and obliging.They have lived in the area for nearly thirty years and therefore have a wealth of local knowledge to impart. There are the beaches at Vendres,Valras and Narbonne,the river at Roquebrun,the markets at Capestang, St.Chinian and Beziers. Carcassonne is an hour away and really is a must see, as is Minerve.
Whether you are a frequent visitor to the area or a first timer, you couldn't possibly do better than this house for both standard of accommodation and location.We can't wait to go back.

We had a wonderfully relaxing holday in Quarante. The house is lovely, with the 'photos not doing justice to the pretty courtyard, filled with flowers and plants, and surrounded by the beautiful stone walls of the church. The house is very spacious, with plenty of room for a family of four (and a sweet room with bunk beds for two further children). Nicely furnished, with everything you need. It is a pleasure being right in the pretty, quiet village, so you can pick up fresh croissants for breakfast in minutes! Pool small, but pretty, and lovely to cool off in. Highly recommended.

Very nice, comfortable house. Well laid out and easy to 'live in'. House was very peaceful and relaxing in a quiet culde-sac within village. Great selection books, DVDs and games room good for teenagers.Owners very friendly came in to maintain pool regularly - but very discreet! Very helpful on local information.
Nice village, quiet but that is what we like! Well served with local shops and larger shops and supermarket short drive away.
We had a very relaxing break and would certainly recommend this and would consider for a break again.
