This lovely luxury 3-bedroom house has a spectacular view from a large terrace looking out over uninhabited hills surrounding the small village of Cabrieres in the heart of the Languedoc wine-growing region of southern France. Built around the turn of the last century, the house was discovered in 2003 in a seriously dilapidated state, but, thanks to a complete renovation and painting with heritage-colours, it has regained its charm and is now a lovely place to spend a quiet relaxed self-catered holiday in the sun. Large kitchen opening onto the terrace is fully appointed with Bosch appliances. The house is air conditioned, each bedroom supplied with fluffy white towels, bathrobes, high quality cotton sheets. Plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas. Market town only 15 min drive, historic town of Pezanas with restaurants and boutiques 25 min drive, 45 minutes to the Mediterranean beaches. Ideal for walks in the surrounding hills, sightseeing spots abound in the area.

The tiny village of Cabrières, well known locally for its wine, has a corner store, and a cosy village restaurant. It sits nestled amongst low lying hills, just 40 minutes from the Mediterranean Sea, 20 minutes from the charming medieval town of Pezenas, 15 minutes from a fresh-water lake, and 15 minutes from the nearest market town, Clermont L’Herault. There are many historic and natural sites close by and Cabrières itself has a prehistoric copper mine. Markers along walking paths in the hills point out the history and geology of the area. Guests are greeted by the local house manager, who will introduce them to the amenities, and will have a meal pre-prepared upon request. Arrangements can also be made for basics (milk, coffee, eggs, cheese etc) to be available upon arrival. The house has been appointed to a very high standard, is spotlessly clean, and decorated with soft serene colours. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the south of France.

  • The Master bedroom has a separate toilet, and within the room a sink and a free-standing cast-iron enamelled 'Slipper bath' with hand shower attachment. The bath is brand new, but made in with a traditional design. It is a lovely place to soak after a long day at the beach or sightseeing. Comes with a book stand, candle and wine-glass holder.

Towels and linen for 8, including beach-towels. All linens can be changed by the house manager each Saturday for those staying more than one week.

This truly was a luxury house, which was spotlessly clean, and decorated to a very high standard. It had everything you could want and much more. The house manager who greeted us, couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly, explaining how everything worked. The air conditioning was a welcome bonus. The village was peaceful but had an excellent local shop which sold most things, including fresh bread, and an excellent local restaurant. I would highly recommend this house, and we hope to return very soon.

This traditional second floor French Village house with all the modern amenities( including air conditioning), is a wonderful escape into the French country side and a way to experience the French culture in quaint village.
The pictures display only a small glimpse of the actual beauty that you encounter upon arrival. We were warmly greeted by the housekeeper who showed us all of the amenities of the villa.
I would highly recommend this property to friends and family alike. This summer, I will be able to embark on my third visit to this village and property. It has a restful and relaxing ambiance that keeps me wanting to return.
There is a very useful binder that displays attractions, road maps, restaurants, grocery stores in the out lying towns.
In the morning, make sure you get to the local bakery/store for freshly baked bread. Knowing a few key French words, will greatly assist you in your transaction.
Should you wish to explore the towns and beaches, a rental car is very helpful. Provided at the Villa, are detailed directions to various sights as well as brochures to help you with your selection for your days journey.
The property is very clean and appointed with the comforts of a hotel. It was wonderful to have access to a full country kitchen. Sitting on the large terrace that overlooks the country side, was a great way to relax and enjoy a glass of the local wines. It was truly a highlight at the end of a day!
