Attractive stone-built house with large sunny garden in ancient village of Azillanet. The property has been sympathetically restored, retaining original tiled or burnished oak floors and beamed ceilings. Three large bedrooms, (one of which a delight for children, with ladder-staircase and under-eaves sleeping), superb open landing area, and generous living-dining space. Original bathroom + brand-new shower room. Beautiful views of the village and countryside. Garden is a particular feature, with vine and fruit trees, but especially the huge (climbable) fig tree with swings attached. Above-ground pool. Village shop and local restaurant a few minutes stroll. Cycling (bikes available), walking, hiking from house. Lake swimming 10 min drive, fantastic river swimming within 20 min drive. Supermarkets, banks, cafes, etc 10 min (Olonzac). Fabulous Cathar hilltop village of Minerve 10 min, also Canal du Midi. Med beaches 40min. Carcassonne 25min (40min airport), Montpellier 1h 15mins

Nearest Train: Lezignan at 15 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: Lezignan at 18 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 50 Kilometres

Azillanet is a charming unspoiled village with cobbled streets and original wash-houses. It has wine 'caves', a village shop which stocks everything, (fresh bread delivered daily, meat and poultry available to order), and a local 'Ferme Auberge' with outside dining amongst fruit trees, & typical menus at very reasonable prices. Children's play area 2 mins from the house. The village is situated in the foothills of the Montagne Noir, ideally placed between plain & mountains, with walking, hiking, cycling to suit all. We enjoy gentle bike-riding through the wine villages, passing between vineyards and olive groves... But if you fancy something more strenuous..The spectacular Cathar village of Minerve ('Un des Plus Beaux Villages de France'), straddling its 2 river gorges, is 4kms away - & many other attractive villages nearby. Olonzac is 3.5 km away with supermarkets & all facilities, as well as a great weekly market. The Canal du Midi is 10mins away. Lake & river swimming mins away.

Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds, large storage wardrobe, mirror, built-in electric radiator, view over garden. Bedroom 3 is a children's delight with 'space-saver' staircase, large floor area, and light aspect. 3 single beds, chest of drawers, plus toys, posters, games, play-tent etc.. Tower-fan available in this room. Large airy landing area with extensive shelving built in. All of these areas have beamed ceilings and timbered floors, mainly original. Fold-out single bed and travel-cot (with new safety mattress and bedding) available.

We stayed three weeks in the house during the summer with 4 people (2 adults, 2 children). You find everything you need in the house. You can visit a lot of lovely places.

Azillanet is a very nice and quite(! ) village

We were there last summer with 7 people; 3 children and 4 adults. The house is fine and well equipied. The owner is very friendly and helpfull.
The people in the village, but especially the neighbors are very friendly people! There is a lot to see and to do in the surroundings.
We will certainly go back there in a later occasion!
