Delightful villa for 8, near the Mediterranean sea . Heated pool
Completed for 2005, the house is ideal for up to 8 persons. There are two en-suite double bedrooms (with toilets) and two other bedrooms, each with two single beds, which share a shower room/toilet. All rooms open out over the private pool which is in the sun most of the day. It is less than 10min to Pezenas, and about 20km from the fishing ports of Meze and Bouzigues and the Mediterranean with its easily accessible blue flag beaches, Bouzigues is famous throughout France for its oysters and mussels. You will be able to choose from at least 20 restaurants within 20 min. You will find walking and cycling easy and safe, the village is in the countryside, between the vineyards and the “garrigue”, which is ideal for family days out. Roads are replaced by pine woods, heather, wild thyme, and countryside flowers. For further information about the house its location and more photographs, please contact us for our website address.

It's a good idea to have a theme for the holiday - or at least for a few days of it in order to be able to take home memories of an enjoyable stay, and here you will have no problem whatsoever. Whether its walking in the National Parks, following the trail of the Cathares (you should read The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail before you come ISBN 0-552-12138-X ) so as to understand one of Europe’s greatest mysteries. Searching out the Via Domita (the Roman road running from Rome to Spain which is still visible in parts), or visiting the Mediterranean ports of Meze, Bouzigues, Sete etc. and eating seafood caught the same day whilst looking out over the fishing boats, you are sure to leave having seen but a small part of what the area has to offer and are certain to return. Oh! I forgot to mention the Grottos, Aqualand, St. Guilhem le Desert, canoeing, sea swimming, beaches.......etc.
Local activities sailing, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, swimming, tennis, walking, wind-surfing

| Notes: | The house is ideal for both the larger family or two smaller ones. The rooms are spaced so that the double bedrooms are someway apart and that the two twin bedrooms are in there own wing with their own bathroom. The pool is 8m. x 4 m. and in accordance with the latest regulations fitted with a pool alarm. Although a new house, the atmosphere is that of an older one, giving it a comfortable, lived in feeling. All of our visitors in 2005 were complimentary of the house, one lady was good enough to say that we would have problems with our website...... because it would be difficult to explain how nice the house is! Aumes is a very pleasant and friendly village, having its own tennis court, boules pitches, small football pitch and volley ball court. All of these facilities are normally available to you. There is a BBQ at the house next to the outside eating area. Local BBQs' are called 'grillades' and might include Toulouse sausage, spicy sausage from Spain, sardines or chicken. |
Beaches and tradition.
AUMES is about 25 minutes from the Mediterranean. The nearest beaches are around Meze or Marseillan Plage, although the whole coastline is accessible and the beaches sandy. The beach at Rochlongue is ideal for younger children, having a gradual slope into the sea, and being protected by a breakwater, there are rocky pools in which to play and easy access by car. Aumes is well positioned for you to take advantage of a wonderfully diverse region of France which embraces the real spirit of France. Here you can find those classic cameo moments, so typically French which you would be excused for thinking were from an age long forgotten, but are in fact the bedrock of a society which values tradition and ‘laisser faire‘ above all else. These moments reflect the day to day life of a country which has remained true to its traditions, but has accepted the modern and is therefore able to provide recreation and distraction at every turn.
Pezenas
Pezenas,10 minutes from Aumes is probably the most well known market town in the area where most of the houses date from the 17th century. The whole of the old town, which has officially been classified as part of the French National Heritage is original, and it is as it was when Moliere and his theatrical company used to live here. Throughout the 17th century, to be near the governors of the Languedoc province, the aristocracy built impressive private mansions with inner courtyards and gardens, and have retained their charm and elegance from this bygone age. Often called the Little Versailles, Pezenas has a wide range of arts and crafts, restaurants and visits. Aumes is well situated to satisfy the needs of all its visitors; lying between mountains and sea, beaches are twenty minutes drive away, and to allow exploration, education, and vilification to be enjoyed by the most active or the most relaxed of our visitors.
Further afield.
If you decide to travel further a field you will find plenty to keep the whole family occupied and happy. Most things are available in the shops, entertainment is what you would expect from an area, which mixes old and new in such a way that one does not take from the other. It’s all here, you only need to visit the local tourist office and you will to find all you need to enjoy your stay. In the house book you will find all sorts of information and ideas. From Aumes you will be able to travel to Spain and back in one day, maybe visiting the Salvador Dali museum, or stay overnight in Barcelona visiting the amazing Gaudi Cathedral. There are dozens of visits to make. The Camargue with its black bulls, white horses and flamingos are close, you will be able to go on safari in a 4x4 with a guide. The upper Hérault river has one way canoeing. You could visit Carcasonne, a walled town with huge battlements and turrets, a really romantic town!
Other Activities Searching out antique bargains, house hunting, trips to Spain, eating out.
