Dream private rustic villa with Pool and modern amenities

This Large house is really the owners private home, you will see that the moment you walk in the door, full of interesting furniture and with fantastic rooms for entertaining- so nice in fact you may never leave your entire holiday- unless you are going to stock up with goodies from the market. Although it has a very private garden, it is actually in the middle of Old Agde, in the town's finest Street, so perfect for families and friends who want to be able to stroll to a restaurant etc. The pool is perfect and you will have many memorable evenings dinning under the fig tree, or Bar-b-queing. Some of the people who stay in Arc en Ciel have come every year, because for them it is THEIR holiday home. Perfect for Ryan air and self drivers with ample off street parking and main train services. This Villa is really for a large family or a few families or group of friends who holiday together, there is a couple of double rooms on the ground floor in the old wing for elderly.

Rue de la Corderie is a very quiet road, which leads directly down to the water front, where traditional fishing boats dock, if you walk along the quai-side you will reach the beach or you can wander into the old part of Agde where there is a very large variety of Restaurants. You can easily cycle or drive to the beach at St. Vincent, which is much less crowded than others. If your kids fancy a fun day out we highly recommend Aqualand at Cap Agde. A short drive and you will be in authentic wine country- where many chateaus will welcome you to sample their fare. Personally i like heading up into the hills in Haut Langedoc where the local food and markets are excellent and the views and walks spectacular. I have even done day trips to Andorra for a half day skiing and to stock up with cohibas. I know you will enjoy if here because which ever direction you go you will find something completely different.

As the house is organised locally by an experinced English/ french speaker you will have no worries on changeover day, the chances are she will be there to meet you with a nice bottle of wine and sets of keys.

  • The bedrooms of Arc en ciel are well proportioned as you only get with older buildings. If you came with a smaller group than the house accomodates that will also be fine as two of the bedrooms are flexible sitting room- like spaces for the other bedrooms on that floor. With beautiful large windows the house has traditional frames and shutters -so the rooms are well aired with nice views over the gardens below and the pool. Even though the house is old it recently had extensive remodelling, this made the space more user friendly with stunning architectural features. Wherever possible old tiles and fireplaces have been left- so the rooms feel rustic - not boxy and concrete.

This dream house is both child and elderly friendly, as a family home rather than a holiday let it is beautifully furnished and decorated, because it is so large it can get a little cold in winter but in the summer the metre thick walls keep it lovely and cool - well lit with large windows Arc en Ciel is the perfect place for a large family or a group of familes to holiday. The private pool and garden are lovingly looked after by Lin, who lives in the village. She makes sure the pool is exactly right and will wait to welcome you with a bottle of wine... The pool is large and heated by the sun, and the garden is overlooked with giant palm trees and has a very fruitful fig tree. The kitchen is an awesome space recently decorated with minstral gallery and spiral staircase, Another spiral staircase leads up to a vaulted spare sleeping area, with a balcony looking down into the kitchen, Table tennis and more formal dining and seating areas. The house has new boilers and pool pumphouse.
