THE VILLAGE-THE BEACH-THE PORT:
The locals often describe Argelès-sur-Mer as the St-Tropez of the “Côte Vermeille” in the Catalan region. Fortunately, it is not yet, as well trodden as St-Tropez. It has a distinct character thanks to its vibrant community but is not a holiday resort that goes dead in the winter as people do live there too! Argelès-sur-Mer is composed of three main parts: the village, the beach and the port. Each offers its own array of activities to suit any age or generation ranging from the beach with its Club Mickey for the very young, to lively markets (local produce/wine/arts), roller-blading, cycling, watersports (including canyonning), and a casino for high-rollers. It even has a lovely pine forest along the seafront! Of course, if you have a yacht, you can moor it at Port-Argelès. All three areas offer a multitude of shopping streets and lanes, nightclubs and plenty of fun to be had!
THE LOCAL AREA:
It is very easy to get to the village or to the beach from the flat as both are within a 10-15 minute walk…less if you choose to hire a bicycle. One of the many beautiful regions of France, the Languedoc-Roussillon has many treats just waiting for you to discover them. As you wander the rolling foothills, which are framed by the peaks of the Pyrénées, not to mention the famous “Pic du Canigou” and the shores of the Mediterranée, the whole area is dotted with castles, churches, forts and ruins. The nearest city is Perpignan, which is easily accessible by road and offers some of the finest examples of Catalan architecture. Although a car is not absolutely necessary, it is very useful if you wish to roam further afield. Toulouse, Carcassonne and Montpellier in France, Gerona, Tarragona and Barcelona in Spain and Andorra on the border are all accessible within a couple of hours. Beautiful Collioure, the world famous resort, is accessible on foot just along the coast.
THE RESIDENCE-THE FLAT-THE SWIMMING POOL:
The flat is situated in a quiet private modern residence, protected from all the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. The residence is enclosed and fronted with a garden. The flat is on the ground floor and is composed of an entrance, a separate toilet, separate bath/shower-room, a kitchen/dining-room, a double bedroom and an enclosed, independent loggia with a sofa bed. The flat is well equipped, very comfortable and feels roomy and airy. You can enjoy the large sunny 30m2 terrace all day long and the swimming pool is just around the corner*. There is a parking space available with the flat.
