Google earth ref: 42º31`33.73ºN 3º05 55.30ºE. Le Bijou Bleu, is situated in a private and quiet residence on the apex of a rocky peninsula looking over the open sea. It is ideally situated adjacent to two lovely coves with good beaches for swimming, snorkeling or just lying in the sun. Le Bijou Bleu is situated on the top (2nd/3rd) floors of the apartment building and has uninterrupted views across the Mediterranean. The beaches are a few yards walk from the apartment through well landscaped gardens. It is a child friendly environment. In Le Bijou Bleu you will fall asleep to the sound of the waves splashing on the rocks below. You can stroll into Collioure in about 15 minutes or into Port Vendres in about 10 minutes. Collioure has a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops, artists studios, and cafes. Port Vendres was first established as a working port in 6 BC; today it is a busy commercial port with a popular fish market and good all year round restaurants, cafes and bars.

Collioure is a beautiful, ancient and atmospheric town, built round the medieval castle and port. The castle in its present form dates from the 10th century and was the summer residence of the King of Majorca when this region was part of Spain. In the 11th and 12th centuries the harbour and castle were used by the Knights Templars for the export of wine to finance the crusades. Nearby Port Vendres is a busy commercial port. A visit to the vineyards is a favourite with our guests. Picasso, Matisse and Derain painted here. When you have experienced the quality of the light, you will understand why. You are sure to enjoy the lovely narrow streets of old fisherman´s cottages, interesting shops and artists studios. Like anchovies? Then visit the factory! Try oysters for breakfast! It is worth exploring the Pyrenees. There are great walks. Close by in Spain is Cadaques where Dali lived and painted, the Greek ruins of Empuria Brava, the ceramics town of Besalu, medieval Girona and Barcelona.

Notes: Outside: front terrace with sun loungers and dining furniture; rear balcony with seating and views towards beach and mountains. The apartment is set up to be comfortable and welcoming to our guests and the sleeping accommodation is generous. The front balcony is the ideal place to sit out in the summer and enjoy a glass of the excellent Collioure wine with your evening meal while you watch the spectacular evening light reflecting across the bay. It is a safe place for children who can walk through the gardens to the beach: there are no roads to cross.

Lovely apartment exactly as described on the website. Fantastic views and perfect location for walks into both Collioure and Port Vendre - car not necessary as everything is within 10 - 15 minute walk. Would recommend this apartment - looking forward to retunring to it soon! Thank you to John and Sheila for the excellent and efficent service when arranging our booking.

The description of the apartment location was totally accurate. The towns of Collioure and Port Vendres are within easy walking distance.
The coves on both sides of the complex are easy to reach well maintained and clean with lovely clear water to snorkel and swim in.
The apartment looks out onto the bay with the sea lapping the shore under the balcony.There are ample cooking facilities and bedlinen and towels are supplied and a profusion of hot water.
The owner supplies information on the areas attractions and restaurants when booking is confirmed which is very useful and save,s looking for good eateries and gives one more time to eat the wonderful food on offer.
The area is lovely and it was an added bonus to have such an excellent apartment to use as a base for the weeks holiday.
The group of six would recomend this rental location to others without any hesitation, it suited those in the group who were there to chill, sunbathe and swim in the little sandy cove beside the apartment and also those of us who were diving in the area.
