Luxury seafront apartment, adjacent beaches, panoramic views
L'Oreneta, is situated in a private and quiet residence on the apex of a rocky peninsula, looking out over the open sea, Collioure harbour entrance, and a wide sweep of coast. It is ideally situated adjacent to two lovely coves with good beaches for swimming, snorkeling or just lying in the sun. L'Oreneta is on the middle (2nd) floor of the apartment building and has excellent and uninterrupted views. If you would enjoy going to sleep to the sound of the waves on the rocks below you will love L'Oreneta. The beaches are a few metres walk through well landscaped gardens. You can stroll into Collioure in about 15 mins or into Port Vendres in about 10 mins. Collioure has a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops, artist’s studios, and cafes. Port Vendres was first established as a commercial port in 6 BC; today it is a busy commercial port with a popular fish market and good all the year round restaurants, cafes and bars. There are regular boat trips between Collioure and Port Vendres.

Collioure is known as the jewel of the Cote Vermeille. It is a beautiful, ancient and atmospheric town built round the medieval castle and port. The castle in its present form dates from the 10th century and was the summer residence of the King of Majorca when this region was part of Aragon. In the 11th and 12th centuries the harbour and castle were used by the Knights Templars for the export of wine to finance the crusades. A visit to local vineyards is a favourite with our guests. Picasso, Matisse and Derain painted here. When you have experienced the quality of the light you will understand why. You are sure to enjoy the lovely narrow streets of fisherman’s cottages, interesting shops and artist’s studios. Try oysters and champagne for breakfast in the wonderful fish market in Port Vendres. Outside of Collioure: explore the Pyrenees; visit Cadaques where Dali lived, the coastal drive is wonderful; visit Greek ruins at Empuria Brava; visit the Dali museum and market in Figueres.

We have over 20 years experience of gite and apartment rentals in France, all shapes and sizes and in all areas of the country with parties from 2 up to 6. Your apartment was absolutely as you described it and if anything better than expectations. It was plenty big enough for two, not using the sofa bed in the living room left a good sized living space, although we tended to spend most of our time on the balcony, for obvious reasons. The kitchen was the first of its kind we had come across and we thought it was a brilliant idea. When open it had everything needed and it was great to be able to shut it all away leaving a pleasant sitting room. The standard of decor and equipment was certainly higher than the average gite/apartment holiday rental. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival, the information provided for the apartment and estate more than adequate and the additional information on places to go and things to see abundant. In all it was a beautiful apartment in a beautiful part of France with a breathtaking view and a very comfortably furnished balcony to enjoy it.
