The apartment is tastefully furnished with a large sunny balcony. One double bedroom on the ground floor with bathroom and separate toilet, open plan kitchen and dining area with access to the balcony. Stairs lead up to an open plan living area with double sofa bed. There is a separate bedroom with twin beds on this level. A lockup garage is provided on level one and parking may also be available on the roadside. Cot and French mobile phone can be arranged on request.Built-in air conditioning now fitted. Residence Saphir - 8 minutes walking distance from the centre of Collioure and the main beach. The apartment is on the lower of four levels overlooking the bay with direct pedestrian access to the national route. The stroll from the apartment to the centre of Collioure is stunning with panoramic views, there are several coves along the way which are idyllic for swimming, diving or just relaxing.

Collioure is a picture postcard village with beautiful clean beaches and a small quaint fishing port .The old part of the town is made up of narrow pedestrianised cobbled streets which offer a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, art galleries, and wine shops. Collioure has just over 2700 inhabitants preserving the feel of an ancient fishing village. The whole of the central area is a conservation area and is kept impeccably clean. Up until around 300 years ago the region was part of the independent state of Catalonia and there is still a very strong Catalan influence today. Matisse arrived in 1905 to Collioure where he and fellow artist Derain produced a new style of painting called Fauvism. Today there are twenty paintings by Matisse and Derain displayed along roads in the village, at the exact locations where the painters created their masterpieces. Collioure has an excellent dive school and is a great location for snorkelling.

Notes: Pedestrian access to the apartment is directly from the main Collioure to Port Vendres coast road. The main entrance and access to the lock up garage are from Route Imperiale. When using the main entrance there are approx 65 steps down. When using the pedestrian entrance there are 12 steps up. Smoking permitted on balcony only.

Languedoc Rusillion: The area is extremely diverse offering the Pyrenees mountains and the long sandy beaches of Argeles all within a few minutes drive from Collioure. To the south towards the Spanish border the roads meander around a beautiful sculpted coastline and maritime protected area. To the north are mile after mile of safe sandy beaches and towns which offer all the usual seaside attractions such as water parks and amusements. The area gets over 300 days sunshine per year.

How to Get Here.: Budget airlines have regular flights Perpignan, Girona or Carcassonne.

Further details indoors:: 2 televisions one with built in DVD player, CD player and radio, collection of CD's, DVD'S and books. 3 portable fans, smoke alarm. There is a comprehensive range of tourist guide book in the apartment. There is also a list of all emergency phone numbers.

Ski: The nearest ski station is approx 90 minutes away by car

Golf: There is an international 27 hole golf course in St Cyprien (15minutes away by car.) Green fees approx 50 euros.

Other Activities: Collioure is an artists paradise.

Disappointing

This appartment was located on the "old" coast road which we were informed by the owner as "calm". The residency was very calm but the noise from the road started at 7am and finished at 8pm making it near impossible to sit out on the balcony or have the doors and windows open. There is secure parking but we couldn't use it without a high risk of dammaging our Mondeo, the entrance was a very narrow spiral. The appartment is within walking distance of the town but you need to be aware that it is all uphill on the way back but stopping to admire the stunning views of the fortress and harbour help to get your breath back. The property was adequatley clean but grubby and generally in need of maintenance ie bathroom: tiles broken & coming away from walls, damp & shower hose broken. There was no information in the property with regard to emergency contact telephone numbers or information on the property itself, a must for those arriving from abroad. The town of Collioure is wonderful with its restaurants, boutiques and ambiance. It was a pleasure to sit at a café, eating breakfast and watching the world go by. At night, to eat out with the lights of the harbour and fortess and not worry about having to drive home was perfect and the choice of restaurants was good. I would not recommend this appartment as it stands at the moment. However after some good spring cleaning, maintenance, and attention to detail ( eg a toilet roll on arrival and some washing up liquid), it would be an ideal place as a base for visiting the area if you can put up with the road noise.
Owner's Response: As a result of this renters very welcome comments we have gladly carried out the repairs and made some improvements with our changeover people.

Sea view and within walking distance of one of the most beautiful towns in France comes with a road. Fortunately for us this is the old coast road to Spain and not a major route.

Access to garage is tight and we advise this clearly.

Good place for off-season visit.

Attractive well-equipped good value apartment (comfortable beds) that was cosy in some of the worst weather the area has seen for years. Peaceful and attractive location, with extremely pleasant local caretaker and very helpful owners. Loads to see and do in immediate and wider areas. Probably worth ensuring you rent a smallish car if you plan to use the garage, since the access to it is tight. Would definitely like to return (in better weather!) and have recommended it to friends.
