The apartment is situated 50 metres from the edge of the Mediterranean in 'Les Batteries', a residential estate on the southern edge of Collioure, the most picturesque town on France's Cote Vermeille. The airy apartment sleeps four in two bedrooms with the possibility of another two in the main living room. The apartment comprises a fully fitted kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer; bathroom and separate w.c.; one double and one twin bedroom, large sitting room/dining room with sofa bed and sun terrace overlooking beach and Mediterranean and with views into the harbour of Collioure. There is a secure underground garage parking space with electronic entry key. The apartment is fully supplied with with all necessary fittings, crockery, utensils and has the benefit of TV, Video player and stereo system. The apartment is available year-round and is supported by a local English-speaking agent who will meet you on arrival.

Collioure is known as the most picturesque town in South Western France. It enjoys a wonderful Mediterranean climate with 320 days sunshine per year. The town is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees about 26 km from Perpignan and only 20 km from Spain. The town has a beautiful sheltered harbour with five sandy beaches surrounded by magnificent castles and monuments dating from the 13th to 17th centuries. In the Moure, the old quarter of the town, there are narrow traffic-free streets lined with old houses, shops, restaurants and galleries. Collioure has attracted many great artists by the quality of the light and the sunny climate. The Fauvism movement was founded here by Matisse and Derain. Picasso, Chagall, and Dali all visited and painted here. Collioure is situated in the largest wine-making region of the world, the Languedoc-Roussillon. The Collioure wines are known for their intense flavours and robust alcohol content. We call them 'liquid sunshine'.

A few miles from Collioure: Collioure is a wonderful centre for family holidays or a get-away-from-it-all break. Local sights range from the perfect sandy beaches all the way along the coast to Perpignan and beyond, to the castles and towns of the foothills of the Pyrenees. The Spanish border is a few kilometres away and Barcelona only 90 minutes by car. The Cathar castles of Qeribus and Peyreperteuse, both visible from the balcony of the apartment, make for a spectacular day out. The hill village of Castelnou - our favourite place for Sunday lunch. The adjacent town of Port Vendres - a major fishing port having, (we think), the best fish and shellfish shops in the world - buy direct from the fishermen.

The four of us - two adults and two boys, aged 14 and 11 - had a truly splendid time at your apartment. We loved waking up to the view across the bay to Collioure, swimming around the rocks and having drinks on the balcony. The apartment is very clean and remarkably well-equipped (we have a lot of experience of renting foreign houses and apartments). Collioure was pretty but crowded and touristy. Far better, in our opinion, was Port Vendres, a 10-15 minute walk away, with small restaurants along the quay and a fish shop at the far end of the fishing port (turn left at the quay). Not to be missed is the seafood bar in this shop, where you can have oysters, anchovies and white wine.
