Our two spacious self-catering apartments take up the ground floor of our large, traditional town-house, which is situated near to the centre of the small market town of Ille-sur-Tet. The town, which has a rich history and is famous for growing France`s best peaches and apricots, is fiercely Catalan and its links with Spain are evident wherever you go. Our delightful apartments are within easy walking distance of shops, supermarkets, swimming pool, bus stops, banks, internet access, bars and restaurants. These two charming holiday homes provide relaxing havens within a town setting away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal resorts. However, within half an hour`s drive, you can be lazing on a stunning Mediterranean beach or walking amidst the magnificent foothills of the Pyrenees. Chic city shopping in Perpignan is just 20 minutes away. Both self contained apartments have their own large, south facing garden sun terraces. This one bedroom apartment is located on the ground floor of our large Catalan town house and is ideal for two people who want a relaxing holiday in a typically French environment. It is tastefully decorated and is clean and fresh throughout. Guests are very taken with its spacious and flexible layout. The apartment is well equipped. Its kitchen/diner is modern and bright, with lots of storage, a full cooker, fridge and ample space for dining. The kitchen/diner leads to an inner lobby where the shower room/WC and more storage cupboards are located. The large bedroom is well furnished. It has two comfortable single beds, bedside table, two bentwood chairs, a coffee table, drawers, bookshelves stocked with ample holiday reading, and a CD player with a selection of CDs. This room opens, through French windows, onto a great south facing sun terrace, furnished with patio table and chairs and two sun chairs. Guests spend many happy hours out here enjoying the sun and eating ' al fresco'.

Ille-sur-Tet is a fine example of a French/Catalan market town. It is situated 20 minutes drive west of the city of Perpignan and offers visitors the chance to experience daily life in France`s deep south. There are easy road and rail links from Ille-sur-Tet to the Mediterranean coast, Spain and the magnificent Pyrenees. Some of the town dates back to medieval times. The area is surrounded by peach and nectarine orchards and acres of vineyards. One of the local places of interest is the famous sandstone rock formation called 'Les Orgues' which has been described by one of our guests as Europe`s answer, on a small scale, to Utah. Other places of local interest include, the Priory of Serrabone, the beautiful village of Eus, purportedly, the sunniest village in France, the town of Prades, whose weekly market competes favourably with those in Provence and the buzzing, cosmopolitan town of Thuir. Ille-sur-Tet is an excellent base from which to explore the region, by car, bus or train.

    A 100 pounds security deposit is required with each summer rental. This may be paid with your final balance or on arrival at the property. Your security deposit is fully refundable following our inspection of the property on departure.
  • LONG TERM - OUT OF SEASON - RENTAL: This studio-apartment is available for long term rental from September to May. The monthly rent (excluding electricity for heating water and radiators) is 340 pounds (300 for single rental). This studio-apartment is very economical to heat. The studio is fully furnished and includes bed linen and towels. The minimum rental period is 2 months.
    It is an ideal apartment for a single person wishing to work in this area or a good base for a couple who are searching for property or a change of lifestyle.

Notes: All rooms inside the apartment are on one level. There are 2 steps into the apartment and 2 steps down from the bedroom to the sun terrace. The town facilities are within a 5 minute flat walk away. We think, therefore, that this apartment would be ideal for those visitors who found climbing stairs and walking long distances a challenge. Wednesdays and Saturdays are the preferred changeover days. However, if visitors find a particularly good priced flight on another day, and we have a vacancy, we are happy to be flexible. Bed linen, tea towels, bath and beach towels are all included in the price. For those wishing to drive in Spain (40mins), regulation luminous waistcoats and extra breakdown triangles are available in your apartment, so no need to hire at the airport! This apartment is ideal for a couple who may be house hunting in the area. Heating is available during the cooler, winter months. Winter rates are negotiable with the owners. The accommodation: This accommodation is beautifully presented throughout. Both the one bedroom studio/apartment and the two bedroom apartment open out onto their own garden terraces. There is plenty of wardrobe and storage space. A washing machine, freezer and ironing facilities are available in the house laundry. Books, games and a CD player are provided for visitors` use and a bottle of local Roussillon wine, maps and local leaflets await you on arrival. There is a TV and DVD in the 2 bedroom apartment. A comprehensive Information File offers suggestions on places to visit (we`ve written up a few good walks) and the location of bars and restaurants. There is car parking space outside each apartment. Both apartments are independent of each other, each with its own front door and private terrace. However the apartments could be rented out together and would provide excellent facilities for up to six people e.g. three couples or an extended family. Things to do in the region: The possibilities are endless. Whether you like sea, mountains, history, sport or just to relax and people watch, it is all here. The large, well-known, beach resorts of Canet Plage and Argeles offer sand and safe bathing while the smaller, more individual resorts of La Racou and Collioure each offers its own unique charm. All beaches are between 35 to 45 minutes drive of the apartments, and a further 10 minutes drive will take you to the Spanish border. The spectacular Pyreneen Mountains to the west of town can be accessed by good roads or rail. However, Ille-sur-Tet, itself, is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and picturesque walks. Its twice weekly market offers visitors the chance to sample local produce and wines. The bustling cosmopolitan city of Perpignan is just half an hour away and can be accessed by car, bus or train. Getting there: Ille-sur-Tet is easily accessed by road/ rail from Perpignan and the (A9/E15) motorway (Jn 42). It is on the main bus and train routes from Perpignan to the mountains and therefore a car is not essential. However, to truly experience all the breathtaking views and many of the places of interest, we would recommend you having your own means of transport. The Pyrenees- Orientales region can be reached by air, rail, and road. eg: By air: Stansted(London) to Perpignan/Birmingham to Perpignan (airport-25 mins) Blackpool/Bournemouth/Bristol/Dublin/East Midlands/Gatwick/Liverpool/ Luton/Prestwick/Shannon/Teeside to Gerona in Spain(airport-1hr 20mins) Southampton to Perpignan(airport-25mins) Manchester to Perpignan(airport-25mins) By Rail: Eurostar from London to Lille - TGV to Perpignan - local rail to our town Motorail: Calais to Narbonne (1.5 hours to house). If you’re looking for the perfect base for a holiday in the Languedoc-Roussillon area, look no further than this ideal apartment in Ille sur Tet. Situated in this small, friendly French Catalan town, this very comfortable studio apartment is the perfect starting point for visits to the many beaches and stunningly beautiful Pyrenees Orientales, all within easy reach.

You can be assured of a very warm welcome from the owners of the apartment, Jackie and Nigel, who have provided a very comprehensive Information File for Visitors. In addition, Jackie and Nigel are very knowledgeable about the area and are very willing to advise and assist where necessary.

The one bedroom studio apartment has a very well-appointed kitchen, is spotlessly clean and is perfect for couples seeking a relaxing stay. Although only minutes away from the centre of this small town, the apartment is situated in a very quiet area.

Ille sur Tet is well served by bars and restaurants, most of which are within a few minutes walk of the apartment. You can be guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome and excellent service in any of the establishments recommended by Jackie and Nigel. We particularly enjoyed the Café Marche du Gros for its friendly atmosphere, the Bar Nationale for its pizzas and the two restaurants, L’Entre Mers and Casa del Ram for special occasions. For those wishing to eat in the studio, meals on the sunlit terrace, especially breakfast, are always a delight.

Beaches in the Perpignan area are all exceptionally clean and safe and are within easy reach by car. The town is also served by a very good public transport service. For the more energetic, there is superb walking in the hills around Ille sur Tet. For the more adventurous and experienced walker, le Canigou and Carlit are two mountains not to be missed.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, well-appointed, conveniently located base in this beautiful part of France, then Jackie and Nigel’s delightful studio apartment will meet all your needs
