Our Perpignan: Perpignan is the capital of the Pyrenees-Orientales the southern most department of the Languedoc Roussillon. Perpignan is located near the Mediterranean Sea and is only about 30kms from the Spanish border. The city retains a distinct Spanish flavour as it was once the capital of the kingdom of Majorca and later Catalonias second-largest city after Barcelona. Perpignan’s height was in the 13th and 14th centuries, when the kings of Majorca held their court here. Today it is a fascinating city to explore.

The studio, though small, is well-equipped and very comfortable, with an excellent position for exploring Perpignan. But far and away the best thing about this rental is that the owner is very friendly and helpful - we got a quick tour of the town, recommendations for restaurants and lots of useful tourist info. Thanks for a great stay!

The room is small, but perfectly adequate for two people and has just about everything you need. The studio is up two flights of stairs and would not suit anyone with walking difficulties. It's about thirty minutes walk from the railway station and five to ten from the city centre. The area may seem run-down to some, but it was by no means threatening. There is a Roman Catholic church three minutes walk away and a small supermarket not much further. The palace of majorican kings is about ten minutes walk.
All in all, it is a good base for exploring Perpignan by public transport, if you don't mind the longish walk to the station.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are pleased you had a good time staying with us and found the apartment to your liking. We do try to put everything in there you could need for a comfortable self catering stay. Including WIFI Internet and UK SKY TV. The train station is 30 minutes walk in one direction past Galeries Lafayette. However you can cut 10 minutes off this walk if you go via Place Arago. A number of people who have stayed with us have also decided to buy in our street. Renovations should be completed before Summer 2010. Thank you again for staying with us.

A great place to stay

We had a great stay in the apartment. It was in a quiet area but you were in the centre of things within a few minutes walk. It was very clean and well presented and there was everything you could possibly need and then you would open a cupboard or look on a shelf and there was more. Although compact everything was arranged to make the best possible use of the space. Ideal for a couple or a small family. The owner was extremely helpful from our first contact by email, providing maps for location and arranging car parking. Payment was straight forward. He was friendly without being intrusive and gave us lots of helpful hints on places to see and places to eat. There are many to choose from and a range of prices. Le Table was the best meal I have had for a long time and could be easily missed as it is up a very inoccuous side street and don't be put off by the exterior of some of the places to eat or you will miss out. A particular favourite of ours (although closed on this occassion for refurbishing) is the Arago. There are lots of pleasant squares with bars where you can pass hours just people watching and many nice resorts and beaches in easy travelling distance from Perpignan if you want a change from town. Some of the food stalls in the side streets are wonderful with all sorts of fresh food and herbs and spices to choose from and with all the amenities at the apartment you don't always have to spend a fortune on eating out. The owner provides slippers for you to use in the apartment which may sound strange but believe me is a very good idea. I would definitely reccommend this apartment and will certainly be hoping to book again in the future.
