The farmhouse situated in the heart of a conservation area of working family farms and gardens growing fruit and vegetables, herbs and flowers. There is even two vineyards a plam tree nursery and various tree nurseries. The area is called - les jardins st. jacques -which historically were the gardens for the monks of the st.jacques church supplying produce to the growing connerbation of perpignan. This is a highly sought after location locally because of its peace and quiet and yet the entrance to les jardens st.jacques is right on the edge of a very attractive side of Perpignan. You can walk to the attractive centre of the city from the house. The majestic mountain - Canigou dominates the horizon and during the day, the gardens are a haven for many types of birds and some exotic species migrate to the farmhouse gardens. Nigh times are very peaceful. Just10 mins drive from the Mediterranean, 15min from Spain and the Pyrenean foothills, this is an amazingly convenient and lovely spot.

The farmhouse location : The Catalan farmhouse, which has nearly 4500sqm of gardens is bordered by an Apricot orchard, Olive grove and vine and palm tree nurseries. The house is situated approximately in the centre of a unique conservation area of fruit and vegetable farms and tree and plant nurseries called Les Jardins des St.Jacques. There is a lovely restaurant in walking distance from the farmhouse and 'Les Jardins SJ' is also home to a historic and picturesque village and two, first class vineyards.

The colourful and exotic city of Perpignan: Right on the doorstep of Les Jardins des StJacques is the city of Perpignan. It takes two minutes by car and is a lovely walk from the farmhouse. It is hard to think how anyone would want for more from a city. It is full of sophisticated shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and music clubs. There are many interesting festivals held in the city during the year. The old quarter of the city is home to several multi-cultural food markets and full of fascinating Catalan architecture. The icing on the cake is that almost at every turn, the city is full of exotic palm trees.

Roussillon, The Med, The Pyrenees & Spain: This is a truly superb region for any type of holiday you could wish for and at any time of year. Roussillon is the sunniest part of France with app. 320 sunshine days a year with the autumn being a real treat and break from colder parts of Europe. The Med resorts of Canet, Barcares, St.Cyprien and Argeles all with marvellous beaches are all just minutes away. The famous and beautiful Collioure, Ceret and Figueres in Spain are loaded with artistic history. The majestic Pyrenees wrap themselves around Roussillon and tumble into the Med, the lush countryside is quite simply carpeted with sun baked vineyards. If all that was not enough, the lovely Costa Brava of Spain is Roussillon's southern neighbour.

Golf: Golf Information: The catalan farmhouse is is situated just about 15 minutes from the St.Cyprien golf course itself only half a mile from the Mediterranean. St.Cyprien has both 18 hole and 9 hole courses. The 18 hole course is par 73 and 6480m. In this Roussillon region there is also the spectacular Domain De Falgos, 18-hole course, par 70 and 5047m, with views overlooking both Mount Canigou in the Pyrenees and also to the CostaBrava in Spain. There are also 9 hole courses at Amelie Les Bains and Camprodon. From the farmhouse it is only 25 minutes drive to the border with Spain where you can enjoy the CostaBrava courses at Torremirona Golf Club which has 18 holes and is par 72 and 6245m and Peralada Gold Club which has both an 18 and a 9 hole course and is par 71 with a length of 6704m. When you return back to the farmhouse, you can then enjoy the large pool and then just a couple of minutes by taxi and you are in the centre of perpignan with its wealth of choice of bars and restaurants. The farmhouse is only 15 minutes drive from the airport.

My wife have stayed twice in this appt whilst looking for property in the area combined with a holiday and the chance to explore exquisite Collioure, Ceret (cherry cap. of Fr!.) and to venture further into the Pyrenees and to the Costa Brava. The location in a thriving market garden area on the outskirts of P'gan allows easy access to the city and to nearby local stores. A car is recommended.
The s/c appt. on the GF was clean and furnished to a high standard. It has a private sitting/dining area just outside and looking out on the extensive informal garden surrounding the large pool. There are a large no. and variety of mature tres - including palm and mimosa -affording welcome shade and adding to the relaxed ambience of a French country garden. The owners Terry and Sally, if in residence, are discreetly available if reqd. and, as one would expect, are a mine of information on sightseeing art, culture...and cuisine
We still visit the area frequently at different times of the year and always find new features of interest in this more laidback corner of the SW.

A relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings

We (three adults) stayed in this apartment for a week in September 2008 during the period that the owners organise art holidays.

The extensive gardens and large swimming pool are delightful and there is always a shady spot to be found. The apartment is clean, well-maintained, comfortable and well-equipped with a view over open fields at the back and over the farmhouse terrace to the gardens beyond in the front. The shaded outside dining area is right by the entrance to the apartment - handy for the kitchen. The extensive library is an attractive feature and a great bonus.

The arrangement of the bedrooms is such that the apartment is most suitable for families or close friends.

The bathroom with large shower enclosure is spacious and it is convenient to have two basins. The toilet and a third basin are in the adjoining utility room.

We hired good bicycles very cheaply in Perpignan. They were the ideal transport for exploring the area of Les Jardins St Jacques and for Perpignan itself. Much of the route into central Perpignan from the property is through parks. We also hired a car for going to the coast (rather crowded and with parking problems but very picturesque) and into Spain (Dali's house at Port Lligat was fun to visit). We travelled to Perpignan from England via Eurostar and the TGV so that, and the bikes, made us feel quite green.

We had a fantasitc week in the garden apartment.

The apartment was clean, spacious and very well furnished.

The owners were very warm and welcoming and were attentive to all our needs.

We found it very convenient the accommodation being all on one level wih the lounge opening out to the garden/barBQ area.

Our children enjoyed the garden and large pool, there was also horse riding across the road.

There are many places to visit in the area: beaches, mountains, castles, vineyards.

We would highly recommend this property and the area.
