Cycle routes:
This area has excellent mountain and road bike routes with recently developed tracks taking you through some of the most stunning scenery you would not otherwise see by car. The routes are marked and pass through the the village. From the doorstep, on a mountain bike you can travel through the landscape on the loggers tracks which cut cross country, through the hills from village to village. A great way to explore the area off the beaten track.
This part of France and Catalunya is the training ground for Tour De France competitors and road cycle enthusiasts. Directly from the apartment you can access some fantastic road routes each side of the border which take you high into the mountains with wonderful views across the Pyrenees. The village of St. Laurent is at altitude of about just under 700m. The apartment has bike storage facility in the cellar which can be accessed from the road.
Autumn and winter months are especially good for cycling and walking as the days are very dry and sunny.
Mountain-bike hire is available at Tapis, 15 minutes over the border, at very reasonable rates.
Health spa and golf resort:
A 7min drive from the village, higher into the mountains, is Falgos golf resort which facilitates an excellent spa with swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, all open to non-members. There's also a well equipped multi-gym which commands excellent views of the Pyrenean landscape! There are several walks from the club-house which take you around the outskirts of the golf course from which you can take in the spectacular scenery of both Catalunya, looking down towards the Costa Brava, and France's Canigou mountain range. Afterwards, you can relax at the club-house sunny terrace with a beer, glass of wine or coffee!
The Bear Festival: (17th-19th February, 2012)
The Fete de l'Ours is the largest and most celebrated of the Catalan festivals and kicks off the festival calendar. It takes place in St Laurent De Cerdans in February. Expect all the chaos of the Carnival, floats, costumes, men in stockings!, live music in the street, madness, mayhem and a party atmosphere for 3 days. Take part if you dare!

Lake at Darnius:
There is a beautiful lake about 1/2 hour from the apartment at Darnius. An inflatable boat, oars and pump are available on request.
Tennis:
There is a tennis court in the village. Tennis and Artengo rackets and balls are available on request.
Ski:
Nearest ski resort is 1 1/2 hr. drive at Vallter 2000 in Catalunya. The French resorts of Font Romeu, Formigeres, Les Angles are 2 1/2 hours away.
Golf:
Falgos golf resort is a 10 minute drive from the village. A full 18 hole course commanding spectacular views of the Pyrenees. Resort includes health spa with swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room plus well equipped multi-gym.
