Flights:
Perpignan Airport is only 20 minutes by car or taxi. Ryanair has daily flights all year round from Stansted to Perpignan. Between March and October bmibaby also has daily flights from Manchester to Perpignan, while Flybe offers flights from Birmingham and Southampton to Perpignan. Barcelona Gerona, Toulouse, Carcassonne, and Montpellier are also airports that you may want to consider. Ryanair offers good value car hire through Hertz. Car hire at Perpignan Airport is also available through Avis, Europcar, Budget, National / Citer, Ada.

Perpignan, only 30 kilometres from the Spanish border, is more Catalan than French and blends perfectly the best of both cultures. (For more information or to check any useful website, please do not hesitate to contact owner). This area has wonderful countryside, flat plains or local hills - all are within easy reach and great for walking, cycling, or simply driving around. Also the nearby Vermillion Coast heading down towards Spain with its picturesque towns, rich culture, history and art is well worth exploring. There are many pretty french villages and towns and attractions within a short drive including Villefranche-de-Conflent, the ancient pretty walled town in the foot hills of the mountains with its nearby extensive caves.

All within around two hours by car.... The vibrant Spanish city of Barcelona, capital of this Catalan region (or go by train from Perpignan). Andorra, famous for its duty free shopping. Nimes, with its wonderfully preserved Roman amphitheatre (still used today for concerts etc). The wonderful vibrant city of Montpellier. The heart of the mountains provides truly breathtaking views, excellent walking and great skiing in season. (e.g. the ski resort of Les Angles).
Golf:
As the first genuine golf resort in France, Golf de Saint Cyprien is one of the most reputed golf destinations in the country. There are two courses - the 'Canigou Etang' championship 18 holes and the 'St Cyprien' 9 holes both with water hazards, offer stimulating play for both the experienced and the inexperienced golfer. Golf de St Cyprien is also home to the Patrick Lacroix Golf School. It was the first to be established in France, and has now become a very respected institution.
