Catalan Country House WITH POOL
Superb old Catalan Country House set in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Roussillon with views down to sea and to hills. Once an internationally known Guest House of Charm featuring in many guides, it now offers spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation and can still, when not reserved privately and no its entirety, offer Guest House accommodation with breakfast and some evening meals. The country dining room seats 10 and in addition there is a south facing conservatory with eating place for 10/11 people. The 12.5 x 4m pool is walled and secluded. Outdoor eating space with Gas BBQ. The Mas Saint Jacques was for many years an internationally known Guest House and now provides comfortable accommodation with lots of character. The old house goes back some two hundred years and has the thick warm stone walls and beams that one associates with such properties. The rooms are light and spacious with all double bedded rooms having French windows opening onto views. One has a small balcony with a view onto the valley below and another onto a large terrace that leads down to the pool. The property is set in open countryside in a valley that has become one of the most sought after places to acquire property for either retirement or holidays. CAIXAS is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees between the market towns of CERET and THUIR. The coastal resorts of COLLIOURE, ARGELES, PORT VENDRES and several others are some 40 minutes away. The valley of CAIXAS is a very sought after place to live and holiday in as it offers beautiful countryside, is close to the coast yet retains the peace of being slightly inland. There are many holiday activities around, as one would expect, but I personally recommend a visit to the outdoor thermal baths of St. THOMAS LES BAINS. This is a trip that would take in the fortified town of VILLEFRANCH DE CONFLENT: and end up in ANDORRA - don't miss the Little Yellow Train that goes over some of the most stupendous viaducts in France. Nevertheless for the pull of the mountains it remains the coast that perhaps provides the biggest attractions and Aqualand and all other amentias are a short drive away. The selection is from long sandy beaches to smaller through to the smaller, more intimate ones.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner/advertiser.
Please Include a Damage Deposit of €400 when renting the property in its entirety.

The large farmhouse kitchen is attached to a good sized dining room with a farmhouse type dining table and seating for 10 people. Adjacent is a large south facing conservatory with eating for up to 12 people. The kitchen is well equipped (I often cooked there for up to 16 people) with a double fanned electric oven and most gadgets for cooking. In front of the house is a terrace with a view to the valley a table and chairs. The approach to the pool offers a large BBQ area with outside tables and chairs for 12 people. There is a gas BBQ. The pool area has is walled and private, and a veritable suntrap with loungers. (No eating or drinking that would have a contamination effect for other guests is allowed by the pool or in the pool area. The pool is reserved for the occupants of the Catalan Country House and the Garden House. |
Property type 2 story stone cottage
The cottage opens out to the pretty village 'place' with immediate views to the coast and the hills. Just a few metres away is a small area for outside eating with a gas BBQ. The place is also suitable for outside activity and an excellent place for children to play. There is a large village car park below the 'place' where it is possible to play 'boules' and where during the summer season the village fetes and 'grillades' take place.
