Photos and Description of this Ceret holiday house 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6

This imposing turn of the century house is situated in the delightful historic town of Céret on a narrow cobbled street in the old walled part of the town leading to fine Baroque church, and the Squares with its nine-spouted fountain and restaurants shaded by plane trees. The 3 bedroom house itself is on four floors. It is light and airy, having large windows and a sunny aspect. The roofed terrace with gives lovely views over the red tiled rooftops of the old part of the town to the steeply rising oak and chestnut forested hills beyond. An ideal spot to sit and relax on a lazy day or to put one's feet up with a drink in the evening. All of the town’s amenities are within close walking distance.

Six in Ceret

The Sexagenarian Glasgow,Scotland
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
A group of six adults rented the property in Ceret in October 2009 for a week which turned out to be memorable. Not only did the property match the description exactly as described, but the location was superb in the heart of the town. There are numerous cafes and restaurants for such a small town, each one within a few minutes walk from the house. We sampled four or five and loved them all. Our favourite was La Fontaine, just round the corner from the house in the Place de Neuf Jets. The owners there could not do enough for us.
The church which dominates the town is at the end of the road in which the house is situated and is definitely worth a visit. It is superb inside. In addition to the house and area being charming, the weather was 23c- 28c for the whole week we were there. This enabled us to see the surrounding area at it's best and we visited Villefranche de Conflent, (used le petit train jaune to Font-Romeu), Castelnou, Argeles, Collioure, Banyuls, St Cyprien, Elne - all of them delightful.
On Saturday, the market takes place in Ceret and it was wonderful. The atmosphere around town when it is on is worth the visit alone.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the house and town to anyone who is thinking of visiting the Rousillion area.
We all wished we could have stayed for longer.

If there was a down side, it was that the GBP/Euro currency exchange rate was at it lowest for some time with one euro equalling one pound.
This should not deter anyone however, as the value for money in the restaurants in particular was exceptional even at those rates.

A Wonderful Time was had by All

Paso Robles Travelers Paso Robles, California, USA
Review Submitted: October 20, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Just returned from a (too) short stay in lovely Ceret. The house within the old city walls is very charming, very spacious (there were 5 of us), well-equipped and so convenient to town. We ate and played cards on the 4th floor-oops- 4th level patio, cooked meals daily and made day trips all around the nearby area.

The house was very comfortable and felt like home almost immediately. Even with jet lag we all slept like babies. We walked to the market and butcher and bakery daily and had such fun doing things so different from home.

Due to our travel schedule we arrived very late at night but were able to access the house easily and got settled in promptly. The stairs (4 flights) were a bit of a challenge
but we got in shape fast, though I would not recommend the property if you have mobility problems.

We had a rental car and had no trouble with parking, there is a large parking facility only a very short walk from the house. The weather was fabulous, warm and sunny days, warm and calm evenings.

None of us speak French (only Spanish and some German) but we managed and had many good laughs at ourselves along the way.

We were sad to leave and would eagerly return-

being a frenchmen, just for a while

Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This spacious townhouse gives you a charming possibility to experience life in a beautiful town Ceret is. We (two parents, two childrenm 12 + 16 yr) spent 13 summerdays at rue Pasteur 1, a perfect location; you can participate easely in all the town activities and festivities. The location in Ceret gives you at the same time the possibility to make all kinds of 'randonnees' and visits by car to beautiful locations in the Pyrenees.
We had a wonderful time, listening to the early noises of a town waking up, getting a baquette around the corner and feeling a bit french, just for a while.

Christmas in Ceret

escargot Dover Kent
Review Submitted: February 11, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Christmas in Ceret. We chose this property as we wanted to be in a small town with a choice of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The location was ideal. Th owner's representative met us on arrival and showed us through the house. The property was as described in the rental details. We found all lived up to our expections. There were plenty of electric heaters to keep us warm,we had snow over Christmas. The house was well furnished and the kitchen/diner.which was well equipped. We had plenty of excercise up and down the stairs, home is a bungalow and it may not .be suitable for anyone with mobility problemsThis property is suitable for year round occupancy. at Christmas the town was festooned with festive lights, from the kitchen windows we looked down on the lights decorating the cobbled streets.Restauant and bar staff were all friendly and helpful. The scenery up in the surrounding mountains was breathtaking spectacular all the peaks and valleys deep in snow.If you intend doing this a 4 by 4 would be advised. We will remember that Christmas,we were a group of 5 adults and a dog so we had no children to entertain. As a group we were content to sightsee and in the evenings eat and drink in establishments that were in 2 minutes walking distance. We were not diappointed.

Ceret Town House, October 2008

Les & Mart Swansea, Wales, UK
Review Submitted: October 22, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this house; it is well equipped, well kept, clean, comfortable and well situated within the town. The roof terrace is lovely, with its view of nearby hills and variety of roofs! The owners are friendly and eager to please, and the presence of an English speaking property manager in Ceret is greatly reassuring.
If you are thinking of staying at the house, I’d say go ahead, it’s a comfortable house in a lovely part of France. The description of the house is accurate, the house is on four floors so it wouldn’t suit everyone, but we didn’t find the stairs a problem, in fact they add to the character of the house.
