Collioure house; light, airy, modern with fantastic views
This lovely village house was totally re-designed by a French Architect who created this modern haven of air and light. Fabulous south-facing views from the bedrooms and living area. Large terrace to dine and view the world. Up to the minute, top quality fixtures and fittings; well appointed in every aspect and very comfortable. The main bedroom suite has a bed whose mattress alone cost over £1,000. That's comfort! With a small, private pool warmed by the summer sun - a perfect holiday and a real home.

Fabulous area for vineyards and wine tastings. Popularised in 1905 by artists such as Matisse, Picasso and Charles Rennie Mackintosh the beautiful light is inspiring to anyone with even the smallest artistic leaning. The sea is very clean and calm and the beaches gentle. Walks of all levels are nearby and Catalan country promises drives to abbeys, mountains and cooling springs and lakes. The town has an excellent twice weekly characteristic local market. From the terrace your view shows why the area is known as the Vermillion coastline. Two minutes from the house is a nature reserve filled with wild flowers and a breathtaking 360 degree view of the Mediterranean and the mountains - a must to view the fabulous sunset.

It is here with a collection of over two hundred videos (all in English) - this guarantees peace to those in the ground and garden floors and entertainment to those upstairs. This is a perfect home for families whose ideas for a holiday vary; there is room for quiet reading; gentle gardening, excellent cooking facilities, swimming or just sitting and staring at the view. |
Around the year
Collioure is a year round town where the weather is a micro-climate of sunny winter days and hot summer days. The crisp winter skies are filled with stars and the summer skies are Vermillion red. You can drive to ski resorts in just over two hours or spend spring days walking the foothills. Behind our house is a nature reserve full of wild flowers and a view that is breathtaking - 360 degrees of mountains, sea, town, hills and flowers. This is a unique paradise all year.
The town and market
The market arrives in Collioure on Wednesday and Sunday and provides an excellent meeting point for locals and visitors alike. There is entertainment almost every day in the summer from musicians to dancers and clowns and food festivals and everyone is made to feel welcome. Collioure is famous for anchovies and rarely a week goes by in the summer without an anchovy fete! The area is also famous for its cherries, apricots and peaches which arrive in abundance and scent the air with their perfume. Perhaps sit on the beach and let the peach juice dribble down your chin or the cherries turn your mouth blue!
Quieter times
Outside the peak holiday times Collioure is a glorious place to wander gently around with cafes on the beach to enjoy the views of the famous bell tower. Around the town are strategically placed frames which illustrate the point of painting for the famous pictures of Matisse, Derain, Picasso and Mackintosh. There are beautiful drives to take into the hills and the chance to visit the many wine tasting vineyards. There is a wonderful petit train that climbs the tiny road to the top of the hill and around the vineyards and back to Collioure - it's amazing fun and leaves from the parking area just by the bridge in the town centre on the hour. Let someone else do the driving.
