In the same room you will find a television (French terrestrial channels only), sofa, easy chairs and bookcase with books, CD's and games. The upstairs sitting room also has an electric 'log effect' fire, comfortable seating for 6 (which can easily be increased by using additional chairs in the bedrooms) and a music centre - this sitting room has 2 French windows opening onto the balcony with incredible views across the valley to the mountains. The upstairs balcony runs the length of the house and is accessible from the master bedroom and the sitting room. There are garden seats for use on the balcony.

Further details for this holiday house rental in Serralongue, France

Nearby sports facilities: In Serralongue there is a Tennis Court. Horse riding is also available.

Within easy distance there are further horse riding establishments, fishing, international standard golf in a stunning location at 3500 feet altitude (Domaine de Falgos), public swimming pools at both Prats-de-Mollo and St Laurent de Cerdans (open in July and August) and of course walking and cycling all around.

Within the Pyrenees Orientales there is everything you could possibly want - skiing, both Alpine and cross-country, swimming, microlight flying, go-carting, climbing, fishing - under a glorious southern sun (300 days per year, according to official records).

Shopping, eating, etc: Serralongue has a bar/restaurant where you can buy bread and the local papers. There is also an artisan charcuterie/general store (which stocks most of the staples, as well as a limited selection of vegetables) and a post office.

Prats de Mollo, a lovely walled town with shops (including a small supermarket), bars, restaurants and hotels, is about 15 minutes drive, away. As is St Laurent de Cerdans, with its mill/factory making and selling the local Catalan cloth, which also has shops (and a small supermarket), bars and restaurants.

Throughout the Pyrenees Orientales there are wonderful food and wines - this is one of the largest areas of wine production in France - in reasonably priced restaurants, many offering freshly caught fish straight out of the Mediterranean.

General: The Pyrenees-Orientales is in the far south of France, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees mountains. Here people remain proud of their traditions, still speaking Catalan, the language of both the tiny independent state of Andorra and northern Spain, their neighbours.

Admire the beautiful scenery ranging from high snow-capped peaks to miles of safe, sandy beaches - as well as valleys, lakes, rolling hills and rocky coves. Enjoy the local festivals - the 'blessing of the mules' in Serralongue in June; and join in the traditional Sardana dancing.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!!!

Review Submitted: May 3, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We were two middle-aged couples on a two week spring holiday - our choice of this great house in Serralongue could not be bettered!

Facilities in the house were excellent; the village itself was beautiful and the scenery is truly magnificent.

Nearby Prats de Mollo, a walled town, had plenty of restaurants and bars, with a very interesting church and a castle overlooking the town.
Spain is only about 30 minutes away, and the Falgos golf club (we don't play but you can have coffee or a meal without playing) offers unbelievable views.

Walks are everywhere round Serralongue, and despite mediocre weather (apparently the rain was desperately needed here) we had a superb holiday and our two weeks flew by.

We would recommend this lovely house to anyone - the view from the upstairs sitting room as we wound down in the evening with a glass of wine would be enough by itself to make this holiday one of the best we have had.

Superb Place to Stay

Review Submitted: August 29, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
Spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean - we can wholeheartedly recommend this holiday house. Everything is provided, including beach and bath towels and a much appreciated welcome pack on arrival. Fantastic views from the balcony of the nearby mountains, spectacular in the ever-changing evening light. We could not believe how quickly the time went - there was so much to do. A walk through the woods leading from the village leads to a pool in the river, where you can swim. If you like cycling there are some beautiful roads, though some quite steep climbs. Spain is very close with some interesting, pretty Spanish villages. Lots of opportunities for walking - both low-level, woodlands and mountains. The Mediterranean is only just over an hour away with a choice of sandy beaches or rocky coves for snorkelling. We missed the fete in Serralongue, which took place after we left, but went to the fete in nearby Lamanere, which was fantastic - with a meal and dancing in the square, followed by an espadrille throwing competition (our nearest equivalent is welly-wanging). In Lamanere we can also highly recommend the crepes in the cafe and the local family-style restaurant, which does superb food.
Whether you like visiting places, soaking up the French atmosphere or whether you enjoy the outdoors - this is an ideal place to stay

VAKANTIE-ERVARING

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009

Home-from-home!

Review Submitted: August 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Came here with great intentions of doing some walking but it was so hot we've settled for admiring the mountains from the balcony! And what a wonderful view - sunsets highly recommended. We have countless photos of the sunsets over the hills as they were always different.

We did get quite close to Canigou when we climbed up to Abbaye St Martin - worth every step!

Other places we got to were Carcassonne - superb; Val de Nuria - second time for us but still breathtaking; Port-Vendres - got parked there whereas Collioure was jam-packed every time we tried.

The drive up to Col d'Ares is spectacular - as are the views from the top and the bell-ringing cows - switch off the engine and just listen!

And after every trip it was great to come back to this home-from-home, sip a glass (or two!) of wine and just relax.

We had a lovely time and would recommend the house to anyone.

Serralongue House

Review Submitted: September 28, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Just returned from a lovely holiday in Serralongue. The house is just as described and felt very 'homely'. There was everything needed and the beach towels and bathrobes provided saved suitcase space! Spectacular scenery is all around and there is some fabulous walking from the doorstep. The village has a friendly bar/ cafe. It serves good food at a reasonable cost. There was enough information in the house, and also contact numbers for the owners if needed. The beach is an hour away - certainly worth the visit! I would recommend this house to anyone without reservation.
