Gites Sorede comprises a 2 bedroom house (sleeps 2-4 with wood burner) a duplex 1 bedroom apartment (sleeps 2-3) & a 1 bed apartment (sleeps 2). Sorede is a picturesque village near the Mediterranean Sea. The old-town location is quiet, yet only a couple of minutes walk from the shops, restaurants, market, swimming pool, tennis courts & tourist office. Each house/apartment has it's own terrace for outdoor eating & WIFI. The apartments are particularly peaceful as they overlook trees & fields. They are all newly renovated to a high standard. The fully equipped kitchens and modern bathrooms/ shower rooms make life comfortable. Staying here you will feel very much part of the village. Even in summer Sorede keeps its authenticity & slow pace of life, yet it is only 10 minutes drive from the seafront. Many other attractions including beautiful Collioure, Spain, mountains & fun parks are easily accessible. Stop smoking courses available. Treat yourself to an Osteopathic massage or Yoga

This duplex apartment has a lovely tiled terrace with views over fields & trees. The kitchen is modern oak with built in oven, dishwasher & fridge in stainless steel. The tiles are traditionally Catalan. There is a kettle, toaster & plenty of equipment. French doors lead out to the terrace. The sitting room has sofa-bed, TV & coffee table & direct access to the terrace. Upper floor: Shower room has a luxury built-in shower, sink & WC & plenty of light. The bedroom has double bed with French doors opening onto a small balcony with beautiful views of the countryside. All rooms have heaters & fans. Parking is free & easily found nearby.

Sorede is an undiscovered gem nestling in the foothills of the Alberes part of the Pyrenees, yet only 10 mins from the sandy mediterranean beaches & sparkling sea. This enchanting village has several good restaurants & all the necessary amenities & shops including: boulangeries, bank, post office, children’s playground & tourist information office. It's attractions include a twice weekly market, turtle zoo & riding stables. Sorede is very authentic & friendly. A thriving local population means it is open for business all year round. From Sorede you are well situated to visit many other interesting places including vibrant Ceret Market (overflowing with local produce) & museum of modern art. Perpignan 20 minutes drive. Beautiful Colliure, a romantic seaside village is a must. Spain's Costa Brava, Girona & Barcelona are in day trip range. Mountains, thermal bathes & ski slopes are all accessible. This is a great base for sun, sea & sites either for a family or a couple.

A security deposit of £200 is paid on arrival. This will be returned either on leaving or within 2 weeks if all is in order.
    Cleaning is available for £15/20e an hour.

Sore de is especially warm in Autumn/Winter/Spring. It is more protected than the coast & remains warmer than the mountains. This is partly why we live here ourselves! 5% couples discount for Maison Canigou our 2 bed house outside June to September.

All units have good heating when required & have access to shared washing machine & their own dishwasher. The beds are new with good mattresses which we know will be especially important if you suffer from back problems.

We had three weeks in Sorede in June. Loved every minute from the time we arrived. I had done a heap of home work to find somewhere that was affordable (kiwi dollars!) yet was typically French and preferably old and quaint. Des Abres fitted the bill and lived up to my expectations. Waking up each morning to the verde green shutters in the bedroom was to dream for, not to mention a quick trip into the village for croissants or fresh baguettes for breakfast. Sorede and the surrounding region is a great place to explore and with Spain close by there is plenty to do. The beaches were great and we loved the clear water and pebbly little coves that could be found. I could rave on for quite a while about the quality of fresh food from the various local markets and lots of great wine (I developed a taste for Rose wine), it helped that you didn’t have to pay more than 3-4 euros for a tasty bottle either! Caroline was very helpful and enjoyed sharing her experiences of living in France (which I was ready to contemplate by the time our holiday finished). We loved the opportunity to be part of a typical village and we particularly enjoyed the café in the main square for evening drinks or a meal. Highly recommend Sorede for a holiday.

Having stayed at Caroline's and James' appartments twice by now we recommend them highly.Everything is just like
indicated in the property details and if you have any problem Caroline and James are eager to help.Not to mention Sorede which is a nice little town with plenty of possiblities around.We were there in summer but I guess
it might be even more attractive in autumn,winter and spring.All in all staying there makes us think about moving
to Sorede for good,one of these days.

Wonderful break in France

We had a wonderful short break in Sorede, we love this area of France and visit a couple of times a year, this was the first time we stayed in Sorede and found it to be a charming village, the apartment was well equipped and cosy (we visited in Nov), car hire is recommended at this time of year. We have been to this region all seasons and love any time of year. It is perfect in the summer months for all ages and the beaches are superb. The winter months are wonderful for just relaxing, walking and reading, perfect getaway for busy people like ourselves.

Gites Sorede,Des Arbres.

We have visited this area several times,this being our first stay with Caroline & James,we enjoyed the experience so much we've booked to return for three weeks next summer!
The accommodation was described with great accuracy,and was equipped with every conceivable item necessary. The appartment was clean & maintained to a very high standard,well situated in a quiet part of this delightful village,which has a great choice of excellent restaurants, Des Arbres also proved excellent value for money.
The area is perfect for many fabulous beaches,local beauty spots and attractions. Customer service was excellent,we didn't have the chance to meet James,as he was away, but Caroline could not have been more welcoming,friendly & knowledgeable,giving us many tips about the local area. We spent a marvellous day in Barcelona, catching the train from Figueres,just across the border,following another good piece of advice via Caroline!
This area of France is an excellent spot to visit,as it has several nearby airport links.
While we would like to keep Des Arbres a secret,we would recommend it,without hesitation, to friends & family.
Thank you Caroline & James, can't wait for next year!

My wife and I stayed in Des Arbres for a week in August. Although this was in the height of the tourist season, travel in and around Sorede was reasonably easy. This was made easier by the strategic plan to make the most use of the coastal routes and thus allowed us to enjoy both Spain and France, from one beautiful and well equiped property. Caroline and James were friendly and knowledgable hosts who offered useful advice to ensure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.I would certainly recommend the house, the town and the area to future users.
