A beautiful 19th century village house sits at the foot of the Pyrenees and only 20 mins from the beach. Within walking distance of all amenities. The property comprises of a fantastic open plan living area with a large fireplace TV/DVD player. The kitchen is complete with microwave and dishwasher full cooker and fridge freezer. The property has an enclosed courtyard garden with large terrace dining area which is shaded by a mulberry tree. There is a private pool with sunloungers and a jacuzzi. The property is very well placed for exploring the Langeudoc/Catalan areas and within 2 hours of Barcelona!

Thuir is a fantastic small town nestling at the foot of the Pyrenees it is full of character while having a wealth of amenities which include a Saturday Market, Tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, horse riding plus a great deal of entertainments during the summer months. Thuir is also only 1 hours drive from some fantastic skiing. The area has many ancient towns to explore together with open air springs and mountain walks, not to mention being 20 mins from the med!!! There are some fantastic restaurants locally to sample the cuisine of the area. Thuir is surrounded by many fruit growers and of course there are lots of vineyards all within easy reach of our property Thuir also has many shops to suit all which include smaller local shops for bread and charcutier as well as larger supermarkets close by

Local Attractions

Thuir is set at the foot of Mount Canigou with it snow capped peaks. Thuir is a bustling market town which boasts a wealth of character. There are many shops and a super market all within walking distance of the house. There are local attractions such as the Caves Byrrah home of the largest oak wine vat plus travelling attractions in the town square during the summer months. Within an hours drive you can visit villefranche de conflet, Font Romeu,St Thomas le Bain (open air natural spring), Ceret and Castelnou a beautiful walled village just 5 mins up the road!! There is a market in the town on a Saturday in Castelnou on a Tuesday. If you fancy being more adventurous, there is a wealth of watersports at the beaches and a large waterpark just 20 mins drive away or if you fancy a quieter holiday you can visit the mountains which is aprox 1 hours drive away for skiing during the season or you can catch the yellow train at Villefranche de Conflet (breathtaking views en route)

Activities

Golf at St Cyrprian and Falgos not to mention the many courses just inside Spain. Skiing just 1 hour away (in season). Watersports at the beaches 20 min away. Horse riding 5 min away. Tennis 5 min away.

Shopping

Markets in Thuir on a Saturday and Castelnou on a Tuesday. Larger shops at Portes of Spain where there is a Hypermarket plus other shops this is about 15 min away. Perpignan great shops about 20 min away, well worth a look around the arab quarter and a mooch around the castellet.
