Our recently built villa and separate self contained apartment is situated on a sunny hillside nestling in a valley where the mountains meet the Mediterranean sea. The villa has large terraces overlooking the pool and old village. The garden is bordered on one side by an olive terrace and the local railway line. . All terraces offer a stunning vista. A quiet road leads to the palm fringed promenade, picturesque marina and large safe family beach. The property was completed in 2003 and is fully furnished in a clean contemporary style. The villa comprises; spacious lounge/dining room opening onto large terrace with steps to pool,(villa use only ) fully equipped kitchen, utility room, stairs to mezzanine-double bed, 3 double bedrooms, 1 with private terrace 2 en-suite + 1 family bathroom. The independent apartment sleeps 4/6 in comfort with; lounge, dining room ,kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, 2 mezzanines sleeping 2 each, 2 bath, 2 terraces looking towards mountains.

The well designed modern villa offers spectacular views and elegant living. Tastefully furnished with high quality furniture and fittings it has wooden floors throughout. Accessed by a private drive there is parking for 2/3 vehicles. Steps lead from the driveway to a fenced and gated pool area and main L shaped terrace with furniture for dining 'al fresco'. 3 sets of French doors lead into the lounge/dining area comfortably furnished, bright and airy. The fully equipped kitchen has a triple aspect-small consolation for the galley slave, and is divided from the sejour by a breakfast bar. A staircase leads up to the mezzanine with double bed [restricted headroom]. A large hallway leads to a double bedroom with en-suite shower and wc. 2 steps lead to a separate wc. Along the corridor lie the family bathroom [bath + shower], and a double bedroom with bunks which can be singles or another single added. The master suite has a kingsize bed, en-suite and private terrace overlooking the pool.

Banyuls enjoys an exceptionally sheltered position in which exotic plants and relaxed holidaymakers flourish. It lies at the southern end of the cote vemeille, 20 kms south of Perpignan and 10 kms north of the Spanish border. The charming town is a treasure trove of delights; gastronomic, and visual. The surrounding hills a paradise for walkers. The wide bay and seafront offer a discrete setting for shops, bars, cafes and restaurants clustering around the town beach. There are a variety of other beaches nearby, from the long sandy beaches at Argeles to the rocky inlets on the coastal road to Spain. Diving centres abound giving those that wish the opportunity to explore the marine life of the clear warm waters. Banyuls is famous for its wine and a festival is held each year ending in a grand feast on the beach at the end of October. There are several wine cellars happy to oblige your palate. Barcelona is within easy reach, as is Andorra. The nearest ski resort only 2 hours drive away

We had a fantastic holiday in this superb villa. It was really clean, comfortable, bright and spacious. The pool was great, and private. Our kids spent most of the holiday in it. The Welcome Pack was very useful with lots of good recommendations. It was very kind of Kevin and Jill to stock the fridge for our late arrival. This is a lovely part of France- not too touristy. Plenty to see and do. We enjoyed the Catalan music and dancing in the local Square. It was also located very close to Spain, where we visited the house of Salvador Dali. A beautiful spot.

We stayed at the villa in the last week of July and had a wonderful time.
The weather was a wee bit too hot but thankfully we had the wonderful pool to keep cool in. The kids were in the pool as soon as they had woken up and only came out to have their meals!
In truth we spent nearly all of our holiday either in the pool or eating and drinking at the large dining table outside.
The villa is easily within walking distance from both the town in one direction and the local Carrefour market in the other.
If we were going to head down to the Med again I would certainly book this villa.

3 country Family Get Together in Banyuls

We stayed in Kevin & Jills property (villa & apartment) in late June early July '09 and were not disappointed ! The facilities were just what was described & which we wanted for our diverse set-up - 3 families made up of a 4 (young family with 2 teenagers), a couple (whose grown up children joined us for varying periods of 4 days to 8 days), and a single (residence in Australia). Lots of sleeping options, plenty of bathrooms & showers, and a wonderful al fresco view with lots of house martins swooping in the foreground made for relaxed prolonged evenings. Very well looked after in a calm and non intrusive way by Kevin. We could all do our own thing, either walking into Banyuls which has an easy going atmosphere - excellent Sunday market, refreshingly not too developed but with good choice of restaurants to suit all tastes, or visiting wineries & a fascinating vinaigre nearby. Traditional dancing on Thursday evening in the square by the beach was found quite by accident. Excellent swimming with many options along the coast, and not too busy. I had a few trips to Perpignan Airport in between to collect my son & daughter who joined us at varying times - no problem (45-60 mins).
The main party hired cars from Gerona in Spain because Ryanair had more suitable flights, again no problem (under two hours). Would thoroughly recommend this property and location. DB July 09.
